26 TPI headset

i have recently bought a 70's Carlton frame and forks for my first fixie / single speed project.
as with some other Raleigh's from that time it uses 26 TPI thread for the bottom bracket and headset instead of seemingly every other bike ever made which uses 24 TPI!
i've got round the bottom bracket by using a grand cru threadless bb but i still haven't managed to source a headset.
any idea of where to get one? is there any left in the world?? anyone else had this problem?

cheers,
james

Possibly ebay?

Yeah, I dunno. That's kind of a crap shoot. I might end up going with that BB for a Raleigh I'm fixing back up but I really don't wanna spend that much on a "rain bike". Might try to fix a cottered crank. I'm not sure which is more foolish.

It might be better to ask in both the C&V and mechanics forums. Might be worth emailing the Velo Orange guys about it too.

eBay and patience. There is no other correct answer.

1" x 26tpi headsets are still made and used in Asia, but I don't think anybody imports them to North America. Your best bet is to salvage one from an old Raleigh or simply replace the fork with one with a 1" x 24tpi steer tube.

BTW, Phil Wood makes 26tpi mounting rings for cartridge bottom brackets, but I guess you already have that much sorted.
