No see, the "other wintertime festival" contingency covers that.

Shooting trees is not a festival - it is my "Parzival" quest.

Everybody get a shovel and a six-pack and come over to my house! Ice track racing, beer, bowling, lots of shovelling! Core strength training for next cycling season!

yet somehow, the beer goes unmentioned. I am wise to your Grinchesque ways MKRG...I knew this was just a ploy for us to bring you beer and shovel your front walk!

Just came back from a ride now.
It was great, cycled almost all day from 11 to 5, No cabs, buses, very few cars, and weather was fantastic in London.
happy holidays, everyone.

Just got back from 8.5 miles in this. My average speed has really fallen since the summer. I'm still new to the winter biking stuff so cut me some slack on my poor performance. Next week it's supposed to get to 40 deg. so at least I'll be back on skinny tires instead of half inflated 2.1 inch nobbies.

That stuff is the BEST to ride on. Last year when we got 22+" of snow in early dec in boston, I rode along all week with 27X 1-1/4" tires. SO FUN! The best part is that you can sort of powerslide around turns/ corners/etc, with not much effort. In fact you can just throw your weight into the turn, and use your legs to pull on the cranks, and you slide/skid into the turns. Just don't use your front brake.
You can't go as fast, but riding in snow is fun! Riding into 6' snowbanks @ 15mph is really fun.
Plus there's usually not many cars on the road.

Merry Xmas to myself...and everyone else!

Got my Xmas present to myself yesterday, an 04 pista off ebay.
the good-Chris King headset
-stock seat and post replaced with easton ea70 and selle san marco era saddle
the bad
-it has a tiny little ding/microdent in the downtube, it's really small but damnit the chrome makes it just jump out.
-getting the chain tension just right seems to take a little voodoo magic.
-i definitely need to throw a brake on...
i'll post a pic tomorrow, it's already getting dark.
Merry Christmas All. hope it was a good one.

Supposedly we have at least 4 people heading out for the Sat Night ride tonight. There may be more. I didn't ride earlier today because I didn't want to haul all of my presents back from St. Paul. It was a wise decision. I did fit everything in my Kremlin, but it would have been a pretty hellish ride.

Yeah, while it's still X-mass or whatever - hope you are all enjoying it. Merry everyone get everyone something material day!

Bugger!! My connecting flight was cancelled and I was left sleeping on the bloody floor of the Cinnci airport. I'd still be there if my dad didn't drive 6 hrs to get me Xmas eve day. Still don't have my luggage and Delta airlines will burn in hell. Xmas spirit be damned.

But I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday safe at home with loved ones, human and two-wheeled! And here's to the New Year to come, full of new adventures!

We had 6 riders last night. We didn't really ride much (probably less than 5 miles). But we drank a lot...

It would have been a great night to ride - there was pretty much no-one on the streets.

We woke up this morning and packed up for the '100 mile car trip' with the family back to Victoria from Parksville where the outlaws live. I went out to the car to find my passenger side rear door window blown out. Checked the car out, nothing gone. Phoned in a police report. Was told I was the fourth call in this am from that area. I was the only one who had not had the car cleaned out, why? Well maybe the dufusses did not notice the red flashing led on the dash. Parksville hoodlums are too stupid to notice when a car is alarmed.
$200 deductible. Merry Christmas present to me.

Hope it had a better ending for the rest of you.

I didn't get anything under the tree that was fixed related. I did just order a Jandd (the 2500 cubic inch one) bag off ebay that is a christmas present. And today my mom took me to Old Navy and returned some of the stuff I didnt like and I got some nylonish cargo pants with drawstrings at the ankles which will be nice for riding to school. I also got some nice long sleeve half zip coolmax like shirts from there for like 8 bucks a piece that will look nice on the bike or worn to class, they aren't even longer in the back so no back exposure. Oh and she got me a mini u lock but that did not arrive yet. I did a nice hour on the fixed on Christmas morning.

Happy belated-Christmas. I got nothing FG/SS related, but I did get some Under Armour shirts and some wooly things from Riv thanks to my wife's eagle eye (and my own constant whining).

On the other hand, we returned home yesterday to find that while we were out, the homestead was broken into and some things taken, including an irreplaceable heirloom ring.

Can't win 'em all, eh?
