No pictures (had them on my other phone and it died), but I used tool around on a blue and yellow '92 Yamaha RZ350. Have it stored in my parent's barn as of last October because there isn't enough parking available in my building to keep it with me. Deal of a lifetime buying it tho. $1800 bucks with only 3,300 kms on it and it came with new hydroformed pipes mounted as well as the old stock welded steel ones on the side. Looking into getting a new fairing kit for it and keeping the stock pieces stored so I can return it to original condition when I choose to do so.

Honda VTX 1300R. Corbin touring seat, Leatherlike bags and trunk, Memphis Shades shield.
It's my "rain" bike and travel vehicle when my wife and I aren't traveling together (like my bass club fishing weekends).
Been riding since 1966 and I think I'm on my 13th motorcycle. :D

I think I'm actually losing the will to play chicken with cars these days. The ride home last night in the rain was perhaps the least fun I've had on a motorcycle for a long time. Maybe its the new baby, maybe its the fact that a truck tried to pancake me, but the invisible invincible armor seems to have left the building. Pity its the only practical way to get to work on time.

As long as we're talking about it, I've been throwing around the idea of getting into motorbikes/cycles (strictly for around-town use), partly because I'm interested in learning to wrench on motors. This bike piques my interest because it seems simple (easy to maintain), cheap, and efficient. What exactly is it? What other sorts of bikes might I want to look into, given the criteria above?

That would be a 70's Garelli SSXL, It's a 50cc moped I've been customizing for about a year. The forks are hydraulic forks from a suzuki K10, rims and swing arm are from a tomos TTLX. Mopeds are great because most places you dont have to register them or have a license to ride them. I get about 75-100 mpg. I've put a larger carb and expansion chamber on mine as well as changed the gearing to improve top speed. Other bikes to check out are peugeot 103's, motobecane mobylette, tomos TTLX (best for beginners to wrenching on 2 strokes), and there are tons of different ones around :)

Seriously. And it's 3 years old! Can you believe his dad would make him drive that?

That's terrible. I can see why he rides the ninja, leather interior gets sooooo hot.

I feel for the guy.

I don't see how people can ride those tiny little motorcycles without putting their back out for the rest of the day. You sometimes see people tooling around on one of those micro sized sports bikes and I have to think that being that low to the ground has to dangerous when a truck can't even see a full sized cruiser in daylight...

Wow, you have really good taste.
I've always enjoyed bobbers & cafe racers. That street-tracker look is cool too though, very utilitarian.....

Thank you! The Harley is mostly for puttin' but it is quick enough off the line to surprise a lot of late-model bikers, and the Yamaha is my "Mutant Grocery Getter" and it is just a total blast to ride, but it is very hard to remain legal. :D

(Think front end dangling 4' in the air for a full city block, or in a turn, crossed up and sliding sideways, the front wheel dancing 3-4" off the pavement, with one handed while flipping a peace sign to oncoming traffic......)
