shiftlessbast- 12-28-04 11:26 AM

I dunno, kind of lame...no soccer balls or goalies. Plus they never use their front wheels

Did you notice those front wheels don't flop around with all their movement? If I tried that with any of my bikes (like I ever could), my fork would do a 360 in short order. Looks like they've got the headsets tightened down to make the fork static yet managable if the need arises.

umpadumpy 12-28-04 11:41 AM

And nice skills, by the way!

Fugazi Dave 12-28-04 12:47 PM

Could someone describe these for me? I'm on an absurdly slow connection and I don't really want to let the donload run for like 5 hours unless it's actually worth leaving my connection running all night...

Four guys are riding modified fixies around a basketball court, balancing on their backwheel only. Spins, whirls, rollarounds, back-n-forth. Great stuff.

arcellus 12-28-04 01:59 PM

yeah, they're videos mainly of dudes on fixies riding around in circles on a basketball (?) court.. sort of cool, really hard for sure, but i'd skip it if i were you.

not to put anybody down, but.......

stinkbomb 12-28-04 03:12 PM

the music is amazing

dolface 12-28-04 03:24 PM

they're basically riding unicycles no? (i didn't watch the entire thing, but i didn't see the front wheels touch the floor).

Fugazi Dave 12-28-04 03:57 PM

Sweet....I've seen stuff like this before. Much respect to these guys.

rustychain 12-28-04 04:12 PM

If I could just do a wheelie track stand with no hands my life would be complete.
I hear they are workin on a HEAVY METAL version

Agent_Embryo 12-28-04 05:02 PM

i won't ignore the rediculous amount of skill it takes for those people to do what they do... however... i also can't ignore the skintight flag suits or the cheeseball music...

will_travel 12-28-04 05:07 PM

thanks for sharing this. beautiful.

pat romano was doing a bunch of that on a mongoose 20" wheel bmx fixie in the circus way back in the early 80's and maybe even the late 70's. he can be seen doing a multiple barspin wheelie in peewee's big adventure.

704jason 12-29-04 04:30 PM

that was great. i would love to see it in person.

aekeroo 01-02-05 06:36 AM

those guys have skills, but that was kind of silly. am i the only one who was always waiting for them to run into each other?

He can also be seen doing this in the movie Quicksilver. Along with Woody Itson and few other old school bmx/freestylers. Saw some german website a while back with a ton of this stuff on it. It's probably like breakdancing; people have been doing it for years, but it's just been on th dl....

I used to see a guy riding around campus on a unicycle. This year he switched to a bike without a front wheel. He's got some videos and pics of his stuff on his page. http://www.reeder.unicyclist.com/

His bass helps him cheat! none the less still cool

unaesthetic 01-02-05 04:32 PM

I went crazy a few months ago and downloaded like 25 videos like this. If I remember correctly it's called artistic cycling. It's not as impressive when you realize they ride a 1:1 ratio which is basically the same thing as a unicycle with an extra wheel on the front for the dramatic appearance of a perpetual wheelie. Don't get me wrong, these people are awesome and super talented... it's just not the same as someone doing this on a regular track bike. It does kinda make me want to setup a 1:1 bike to screw around on though!

Hahah.. he has MTB unicycle setups! I've never heard of such a thing until now.. doesn't sound terribly fun actually.
