DCC "Yet Another Year" ride

Jan 2, early afternoonish (around 130pm)? Anyone in for this? Or will the wuss factor be high?

absntr 12-28-04 01:40 PM

Let's do it.

pitboss 12-28-04 01:54 PM

Cool. I am pulling another Yojimbo's early morning gig and then need to take care of a thing or two. So 130pm. Meet at the regular starting point on Halsted?

ryan_c 12-28-04 05:29 PM

Until further notice, I'm working until 3 that day. That might change.
[165] - if you're riding from Yojimbo's to Halsted and Waveland, let me know - I would rather park there and ride up than hunt for parking for however long.

Jan. 2nd is my birthday. Bring presents, by which I mean whiskey.

pitboss 12-28-04 08:31 PM

No Problem

Ira! We're birthday buddies!

skitbraviking 12-28-04 10:24 PM

Cool. I'll be there. However, the weather is supposed to suck as of 10:30 pm Tuesday 12/28.

Butting in, I really dig Stephenson, good to know someone else who is into him. I'm expecting Quicksilver for Christmas from family I haven't seen yet - I've read everything up until that.

salome 12-29-04 08:18 AM

I'll try to be there sunday.

I finished quicksilver this summer and wanted to read the other two, but school intervened. such is life. cryptonomicon is great too.

Stating "TRYING" is for losers. BEING is for winners...

Well you're always trying to be, so I guess that makes you a loser at winning.

Well that was inventive. Did you steal that from your granpa's book of insults?

that, um, jingle they used to play on, eh, PBS so often?

absntr 12-29-04 10:06 AM

I didn't get through Cryptonomicon. I got bored a third of the way through. Which seems to be the case with me and ol' Stephenson. Same with The Diamond Age though I did finish that - eh. I still like his first book, Snow Crash.

I'm curious at this epic trilogy that he's written though.

Fugazi Dave 12-29-04 10:24 AM

I'm currently about 500 pages into Cryptonomicon and still loving it. At this rate I should have it finished in another week or less.

Anyway, can't make it back to Chicago for the ride. Wish I could, though. :(

We'll miss you. But in remembrance of you, we will paddle and humiliate 165 like a baby new year at the corner of Halsted and Roscoe, right in front of one of the big rainbow phaluses. Or is that phali?

You're the English teacher here... :) As for 165, I'd prefer you challenge him to a power hour and then chase hipsters around Wicker Park screaming about Mao.

pitboss 12-29-04 11:09 AM

Thanks FDave. Skitbra likes to project.

sorry to be so anal, but Big U (mediocre at best) and Zodiac (dug it) came before Snow Crash (dug it).
