No way, I've got one and 25mm Gatorskins are cutting it close by themselves.

walnutz- I am interested in possibly ordering the sst al, also living in AZ. Most of the shops I have been to dont have any interest in fixed gear. Can you tell me the shop that you use?

Also, the fitting is throwing me off a little bit. Does the sizing run true to the charts on bd? I am 5'6 and 52cm would be right, except on the charts I may be between the 50 and 52.

Isn't the point of a sizing chart, to be the true size of the bike?

Either way, did you try using a fitment calculator?

It's actually a legitimate question as the the "SST AL" geo chart looks like this: https://windsorbicycles.com/aluminum.htm (different frame butting and different brand... gotta love BD). But yes, as far as I could tell, the chart was correct. As for what to get, everyone is different. Unless you really know what size you need and know how to read geo charts, save up the bones and get fitted/buy something you can test ride.
However, if no shops carry SSFG, I would maybe suspect that a 52 would be a little small for you.

PS- I'm not in Arizona, so I can't comment on shops.

But I mean, would there ever be a case where a geo chart is wrong? I think I made the mistake of thinking by "sizing chart" he meant "geo chart"

I asked about the chart because someone was saying that the bd kilo was way off, to go to the khs website for the right specs. Also , the guy from BD said 50, which seems small.

i have done the sizing chart.

I dont know the differences between comp, eddy, and french. Guessing i would go by comp.

for me on the comp sizing

c-c 49.7-50.2
t-t 51.3-51.8
top tube length 53.2-53.6

The eddy was just a tad larger

Looking at the sst al chart, i think I am spot on for 52. Just wanted to confirm it was not off

Ah, now I'm confused. I think I was reading and using the terms interchangeably as well. Either way for the new guy with the question: height is not a great way to determine bike purchases. Inseam, arm length, torso leangth, etc. are better measurements.

I've noticed in reading posts here and also in my own exchanges with the wizards at BD that they will generally point people to smaller bikes, I suspect this is a way to preemptively deal with less returns/exchanges, as small bikes are more ridable that bikes that are too big. If that makes any sense.

As for geometry charts, I would hope they aren't wrong, but BD doesn't make things easy for the consumer when a "Dawes" bike geo chart is under the "Windsor" domain name.

People just don't know how to read charts. The Kilos are measured differently than most, in that the the seat tube is measured C-C, not C-T, this why people think they "run big".

Oh and I have found no desire for a brake since removing both. Breaking by skidding is actually very easy and efficient. I find it to be more natural then pulling a lever and have successfully avoided accidents countless times with it. The only times it gets scary is when im going down steep hills, but I live in Arizona and we have a very limited and rare amount of those.

I need to weight it on another scale, and lift/ride other lightweight bikes because I honestly find it to be crazy lightweight still and all the bike mechanics always agree. Welding points are consistent as they look too.

holy crap, what do you look like? With numbers like those you must be a chimpanzee! 51 seat tube and 57 top tube? I think you did some measurments wrong as that''s a fairly large discrepancy. I bet your legs are longer than what you measured.

Now, based on your fit measurments find a frame that has a top tube length of 57, pretty simple eh?

After having purchased and installed and ridden a 26 mm stem for my 2012 AL, it turns out that it came shipped with a 25.4 mm handlebar and stem. Buyer beware! The spec sheet says 26 mm handlebars.

Anyway i just installed some riser bars (shimmed!) and a charge spoon saddle. The saddle looks much better, which is the only reason for the purchase. I find it comfortable so far having ridden it exactly 0 miles. It saves 4 ounces, too.
