Otg

These may have been out a while, but they are the first I've seen them. I think Scott should have named them OMG instead of OTG...

Watch out, for stylers and Fixie lovers only

Group set: two wheels and a chain

For artists and bookworms!
The text describing these bikes is idiotic. I mean, they are trying to sell a bike to a niche market and making fun of them at the same time?

tiiger 04-12-12 08:16 AM

life's rich tapestry, eh? Specs and marketing and authenticity aside, I kinda like how this looks.

Maybe tilt the bars back a bit, tho

UCF Eric 04-12-12 09:18 AM

My friend's shop carries both of these and I've gotten the chance to ride the white one. On the bright side, the frame is pretty stiff and has some potential with the right parts.

Recommended for fixie lovers AND comes stock with Brooks Swallow saddle! Bar spin my way to the coffee shop anyday on one of these!

It's a Gran Compe saddle. Those things suck.

It's sad they feel this kind of marketing is necessary.

The old shop I worked at started selling Scott bikes right before I left and their sales rep was one of the biggest dip****s I've ever met.

They should have stuck with ski gear.

Why? Because they made two ugly fixed gears and you had a bad experience with their sales rep?

Simon Gerrans just won Milan San-Remo on a Scott, fyi.

Yeah and that's because he did on a off the peg bike and at their level the bike matters the most :)

If they're sponsoring guys who are winning classics, maybe getting into the bike business wasn't such a bad idea. Saying they shouldn't be making bikes because they have two ugly ones and a ****ty sales rep is silly.

Remember all the garbage Langsters? And the lawsuit between Specialized and Volagi? Yet no one seems to question why Specialized is still making bikes...

Do you really even give that much of a crap?

The Scott bikes I've seen in person haven't been anything special and I'm sure those sweet fixies are no exception. Have you ever even seen one in real life?

Young Version 04-12-12 11:31 AM

Do I really care? No, but I think it's kinda lame to say that they should've stuck to making ski gear. They make nice (if boring) bikes.

And no, I've never seen one in real life...of the hundreds of people I've gone on organized rides with, I've never seen a Scott

Exactly.

I commented about the sales rep being a dip**** because when a representative of a company comes in and wastes a shop's time by barely having a clue what he's talking about because he's accustomed to selling ski equipment, that's not a very good impression to leave.

I'm just upset that larger companies in the industry still don't take us seriously. We are rolling jokes to them, and that's evident in how they market these bikes.

Leukybear 04-12-12 11:34 AM

Checked the link and the only related products shown in the bottom right box are scott's own brand of wayfarer style sunglasses. :roflmao2:

I can back that, but it extends past the industry. Roadies look at me on a fixed gear like I'm some kid riding distance on a BMX bike most of the time. There are some great companies that cater to fixed gear riders, but the reality is that in cycling, fixed gear riding(not track racing) is not taken seriously(by other "serious" cyclists, and bigger companies); just look at all the jackass stock bikes that companies keep pushing out.

gigantor 04-12-12 12:26 PM

Last week it was flying pigeons. This week, Scott OTG.

Jaytron 04-12-12 12:34 PM

This thread reminded me of my Scott.

T-boned a car while descending. Flipped over car landed on head. Unharmed except for bruising on legs from hitting the drop bars. So sad :( DAT STEEL

Scott makes some excellent bikes. Clearly these are not some of them.

Sorry, that was sarcasm...yes, I've seen many Scotts in person.

I don't disagree that a sales rep should better represent a company, but the fact remains that Scott sells quality bikes. I'd buy one before a Trek or a Specialized.

Just stomp your feet and hold your breath until they treat you like a grown up.

I wouldn't buy one of those either...
