Thanks Nashbar
My very recently purchased 2011 Schwinn Madison from Nashbar came shipped to me missing the front brake and pedals. I contacted Nashbar about this and they said they would have drop shipped from the factory the missing items. A few days later the package arrived only to find the items are from the 2012 model - which included a black front brake and some resin platform bmx pedals (the 2011 Maddy's came with silver brakes and a somewhat track style pedals with toeclips and straps). So, discouraged I contacted Nashbar again with the troubles and they said to send the items back to them and they would ship the correct ones once received.
Now, a week later the new package comes in only to find better parts that actually came on the 2011 Maddy. My guess is that Schwinn no longer had any of the older model parts because Nashbar sent me Tektro R540's (both front and rear!)which look quite a bit nicer than the stock Radius brakes, and a set of Wellgo RO 25's, Wellgo steel clips, and straps. All turned out good

Getting what your ordered is good customer service. It took Nashbar three tries...thats ****ty customer service if you ask me. I wouldn't necessarily boycott nashbar, but would think twice before ordering from them again.
I don't know why you are thankful. Where do you draw the line between good and bad service? Apparently, anything short of getting told to **** off.

I have been buying from Nashbar for a long time. This is the first time they messed things up, and I did let them know that I was pissed. It is true, theoretically I was not able to ride the bike for a while (which is what I told Nashbar even though I just threw some parts bin parts on there for the interim to ride on - though they didn't need to know that). I explained to them that it was an inconvenience and I expected some kind of compensation - and I was thinking some coupon or the like. I guess they didn't see it that way as nothing extra came. However, perhaps they consider the slight upgrade in parts their compensation - which I guess is cool by me. If I didn't have the missing parts available in my parts bin, I would have been more pissed and surely would have let them know. Seeing how this is their first mistake with me, I'm letting it slide and will see how future business goes...

Mistakes happen. Considering the amount of volume Nashbar is dealing with, I highly doubt they even open the boxes to inspect complete bikes before sending them out and it was most likely a factory error.
I recently bought a microwave for the shop that was missing the glass turntable. Considering it was in a sealed box, it was in no way the fault of the store where I purchased it and they provided me with the missing piece without question, just as Nashbar came through for bfloyd.
