15 points to the person that guesses what I'm doing to my fixie.

trystero 01-03-05 03:03 AM

making a stash pocket?

ink1373 01-03-05 03:10 AM

my only guess would be getting rid of a kickstand plate.

or just taking out a little anger.

oh! or getting rid of those ugly hook shaped cable guides that some 80s frames have on the top of the BB shell.

That's my guess as well.

inkdwheels 01-03-05 03:57 AM

Yeah its gotta be those ugly little things. They are on the top and bottom of the bb on my friends colnago that she turned fixie. They ruin the look of the bike

Bikkhu 01-03-05 04:24 AM

Using a little grinder violence to pop a Shimano crank on Campy BB?

pitboss 01-03-05 05:38 AM

adding a gun mount?
and what tires you running there Woody?

One more for that guess.

meat_toothpaste 01-03-05 06:12 AM

My guess is also the cable guide. Old school frames had the long curvy guide on top of the BB shell to send the cabe back to the driveside chainstay to the rear der.

wasted weasel 01-03-05 07:59 AM

YIKES! dude I use a dremel-tool with a carbon cutting disc for that kind of stuff....I'd never trust my fumbling hands with large grinder on a bicycle frame....

oh and my guess is your cutting into the face plate of the BB? (as stated before)...?
Possibly because you ruined it by using some other over-kill tool to adjust/remove/install said BB in question?

(I've did something similar once....)

It seems that you are cutting into the BB-shell.

I suppose that you are attempting to shorten your bottom-bracket shell slightly for the purpose of getting a better chainline?

ostro 01-03-05 09:36 AM

it looks as though you have installed your flame thrower on backwards!

Schiek 01-03-05 09:38 AM

What are you doing? Upsetting your poor mum by not using appropriate eye protection.

dabern 01-03-05 10:17 AM

Grinding off BB lockring grooves so you will never again be bothered to remove the BB???

lz4005 01-03-05 10:25 AM

Converting from fixed to zen gear?

progre-ss 01-03-05 10:37 AM

From the angle of the grinder, the position of your knee and the length of your hair, I'm guessing you have no clue either and prior to this picture, you and some friends had been drinking in the presence of someone's bike and a big ol' grinder.

Can I take my 15 points over 15 days or do I have to take a lump sum of 15 minutes?

catatonic 01-03-05 10:55 AM

removing a deraileur braze-on?

(i got nothin)

Eating pie?

shiftlessbast- 01-03-05 12:32 PM

Aggressively altering the taper of your ISO spindle so you can put Record cranks on it?
Or wait--do I have that backwards?

Everest 01-03-05 01:04 PM

I'm going with being stupid

OneTinSloth 01-03-05 01:14 PM

my first thought was shortening the bb, but looking back at it, i'm going with cutting off the cable guides, which makes me kinda sad if it's true.

i was just looking at boutiquey road frames the other day for building up a touring bike, and one builder was complaining about how they wanted to use those top-mounted cable guides, but they couldn't find the right fittings for it.

na975 01-03-05 01:37 PM

grinding the serial #s off, so the police wont catch ya.

South Fulcrum 01-03-05 01:52 PM

Well I know what you're not doing - drinking. Why is there no beer in this picture? You're minus 15 points for lack of booze.
