Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My day

Yeehaa.

Streets are completely iced over, been sliding everywhere today. My chain fell off and broke, the replacement chain broke an hour after. Skin of my left palm broken, bled into my driving gloves and splashed blood on packages. My pal lost his front teeth and had to go to ER, I mopped up his calls. In the afternoon I was getting cigs and pensioner stalked me in the supermarket - shouting abuse about messenger driving habits. I was so tired I could really not give a ****.

Now: pub, one beer, home, eat, die.

Happy friggin New Year.
Welcome to the Working Week. Did your new bag give even an ounce of levity to the situation? If not, the booze will.

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.

Having one rust over from 3 weeks of sloshy rain, then freezing and loosening just enough to fall off the cog, wrapping around bb and hey presto - snap!

The 2nd chain was a czech made piece of **** I installed on the street with numb fingers, probably damaged a link or something, or overtensioned... (yeah, I know, I know)

I had a female state trooper honk at me and point to the side of the road today. I pulled over and she kept going so i caught up to her at the next light and tapped on her window. I then asked, "What's your problem." She told me i was too far into the road and that i need to be to the right.

I told her she needs to learn the law.

Anyways, that was my day. And no, i was no more than 2 feet from the curb and probably no more than 1.5 feet, she was just stupid.
