Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Got hit and run today....

Damage isn't too bad considering it's a walmart bike, held up pretty well...

But what kind of ******* hits somebody and runs off?

She was sitting at a red light trying to turn right, I had a green and right of way, she's staring the the other direction and just creams me. Doesn't ask if i'm ok or anything and just speeds off. I tried to chase after her but lost her. Total bs. Had the bike a damn WEEK.

This is why bikes need cameras mounted in all directions... woohoo.

I was considering a device like this engineered for cars would also help catch hit and runs.

Bikes: BMX, fixed gear

Someone said it before, but I feel that during drivers training, kids should all be put on a bike and then put out on a busy road without sidewalks that has a really high speed limit. No more **** like this would happen.

Apparently It's a dyno Fijo, but since dyno isnt a company anymore, and it's not on the walmart website, I'm stumped. I rode it around a bit and it felt solid so I grabbed it. I might switch out parts at a later date, but as of now I'm riding and getting back in shape so that's what's important.

Should've thrown your kick stand at her.

I hate riding in the city for this reason. Too many close calls.

Thanks for all the kind words ya'll. Might have some cheap ebay parts on the way to get her back to normal. Still rides but she's a little wonky.

you likely have the canadian version of wallyworld's infamous mongoose cachet...

may be you should take this incident as the universe telling you it wants you on a different bike & instead of sinking any money into that thing, why don't you save up whatever you would spend on it & put that towards something less accursed

Are the welds going to come undone? I'm not sure what's so deadly compared to a kilo tt in terms of quality vs price. If you have any insight into that feel free to elaborate.

It's not on the BFSSFG approved list. Burn it.

just try to get the license plate # next time.

your only hope (and even then probably not a good one) at getting some justice.

If you are covered by car insurance, you should determine whether you are entitled to compensation for an uninsured motorist collision. It's doubtful, since it seems like you weren't injured, and I don't think all car insurances include bike v. car accidents as "motor vehicle" accidents, but check it out - you could get lucky. I was in a hit-and-run collision and I was able to get my medical bills covered plus a modest settlement.
