Braking surface

So if a friend had a hed h3 clincher wheel and he didnt like the braking surface. what would you use to cover it? electrical tape? paint it? what kind of paint? sharpie?

The rule of thumb is that if you don't like anything about an item: its best not to buy it. I would leave the wheel as it is and not try to "crappify" it. Listen to hairnet: put a brake on it

well its for my friend. he got such a 'good deal' on his hed h3 but he dislikes the braking surface. so no serious suggestions?
