Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

SS, Fixed, locktite etc

I'm trying to get all the terminolgy down. What each means as well what is needed to make the conversion. I tried search w/ "single speed fixed differences" and found nothing. This is a loaded question so all I need is to be pointed in the right direction....ie... web site or such Thanks Charlie

For answers to SS questions:
https://mtbr.com/faq/ssfaq.shtml

SS lets you coast (freewheel), fixed does not. A fixed gear is a single speed but a single speed is not necessarily a fixed gear.

For fixed conversion info check www.sheldonbrown.com/harris

Wow that was fast. Thanks just what I was looking for. You must be rider X from the MORE site...NO? We have spoken on that site. Avalon won't be rideable for weeks after the recent rains, with more in the future. I'm glad I ride road as well. Thanks again, I may have more Q's in the future. Balto Charlie
