Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Is this worth to buy?

Hi, I'm new to this website and I don't have experience with fixed gear bike.

so I need your advice about this.

Recently, I found this bike on craigslist, and I think this is good bike.

Aluminum frame with horizontal dropouts. Frame is from a company called NYC bikes. Size is a 56cm. Here is a list of the other components. This is a quality bicycle with good parts.

NYC bikes frame
Winwood carbon fork
Velocity Aerohead rims
Paul 32 spoke high flange hubs
Serfas 700x28 tires (new)
Tektro brakes and levers
FSA aluminum handlebars
Thomson stem
Thomson seatpost
Salsa seatpost clamp
Selle Italia saddle
Truvativ Elita cranks with sealed external BB
Salsa 46t chainring
ACS 18t freewheel
17t fixed gear
Shimano clipless pedals

This guy sells this for $400, is this a good deal ?

Thank you

Seems like a good deal to me. Have you seen it, IRL/pictures? If all the parts are in good condition, it seems pretty fair.

EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the forums!

If there's nothing wrong with it, that looks like a smokin' deal. Check for cracks in the frame and fork. It almost sounds too good to be true...

Something about the bars and the color of the frame puts me off.

Something about the bars and the color of the frame really says no.

Looks like a generic frame outfitted with nice components. I might buy it just for the parts.
