If you know what kind of bike he wants, it'd be great to tell us. BikesDirect is giong to be your best chance.

Thanks for the suggestions, I really don't know what he wants as I'm trying to surprise him. The reason I'm getting him a bike is because he uses my Surly steamroller which leaves me out of a bike. I want something for him as close to the Surly as possible.

If he likes your steamroller look at the Kilo WT. It's basically a carbon copy of the Steamroller (geometry is identical I belive). They are out of a lot of sizes so not sure what he rides.

After careful consideration I went with the BIGSHOT-green frt rim, purplre frt tire, org bck rim, blk bck tire, red crank, green frame, yellow seat, pink chain and blk grips....JK

I bought him the KiloTT, I think he is going to love it..

I appreciate all the suggestions as it hard to know what's what for me at this price range, thanks again...

Man that's a great bike site. Wish I would've known about it sooner.
I'm not qualified to build a bike, so I'd have to take it to a shop for that but it would still be a sweet deal I bet. What does a shop charge to build a bike usually?

Scrodzilla 06-14-12 08:28 AM

I obviously can't speak for all shops but we charge $40-50 for a fixed gear/single speed.

jvande7 06-14-12 08:39 AM

That's not bad at all. Damnit, now I want a new bike. Not gonna happen though. I have no need/reason. Nothing wrong with the ride I have now, 'cept it's ugly. =^(

kingburdy 06-14-12 08:50 AM

I am not against the fashion side of riding but it's no fun when you miles from home and things start to fall apart and your stuck somewhere. Plus I don't have tons of money and would like to get the most out of it. Although I guess if you are buying cause the rims match your crank your probably only going down the street for a venti triple macchiatos ''skinny'' with pumpkin spice,lols,JK..

Scrod, I hoped someone I would get someone with that.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I didn't want to create a new thread for this question. I have a Trek Soho S, at first I really liked it but now...not anymore.

The soho S has good parts, Thomson stem and seatpost and B43s...and instead of buying a whole new bike I wanted to save money by just getting a frame...I was looking at this..

Kilo tt frame...is this a reliable site?

Also any suggestions on frames around 200?
