I'm stoked to come back from a weekend away to find this thread making a comeback.

Just goes to show that anything to do with triathlon stuff always sucks. Even something as tangentially related as a measurement/fit system.

Still think there is more to it than standover height. Your top tube isn't flush with the top of the headtube. Easy enough to just find the data you need and enter it into one of the couple of online calculator.

There is this one calculator that includes your stem, headset, and spacers. So really nice to get a preview on exactly what would change if you are getting a new stem. That is really the only use I found for it myself.

Anyways, at the start of this thread was highly considering a bareknuckle so wanted to check out a few things. Hence my interest in finding an accurate fork length. But decided on a different frame. Bare knuckle is really cool, but I think a little over priced. Was scoping out used framesets for a bit and did find one in my size, but had cable braze ons along the top tube. I guess some did come with cable braze ons after looking into it (not sure why this frame would need that), along with reports of easy denting, and bad paint. No real manufacturer will be backing it. $700 was too much to dump into all that unknown. Still think its a sweet frame and if I ever come across a used one in my size for a good price, will definitely grab it.

FWIW - I haven't experienced any issues regarding easy denting or bad paint on mine and EAI's customer service is outstanding.

Im sure its a dope bike. But I know you are fully aware of various complaints people have about dents and paint issues. Even with that I am sure there are good and bad batches just like with anything. And how you take care of it.

What I meant regarding the company backing is lifetime warranty like many companies give these days. Even the geometry chart is a scribble sketch. Which only adds to its exclusiveness imo.

Still on my want list.

But all my comments were based on the new price which is definitely overpriced. For the right price though, would grab one in a second.

In regard to the geo chart being a "scribble sketch", I feel you're a little off the mark. Yes, it's drawn by hand but Dave Lundegard from EAI is an extremely detail-oriented person. You should see his penmanship on all the hand-written packing slips and invoices we receive at the shop and how meticulously the boxes are packed. It's ridiculous (in a good way).

I would much rather see a carefully hand drawn chart that is 100% accurate than a bunch of random numbers thrown at a computer screen a la Bikes Direct.

I agree that the price may be a bit high but I also feel both the BK and Godzilla are worth it. Good steel frames aren't cheap and cheap steel frames generally aren't very good. I bet if I ever had any sort of problem with my BK, it would be taken care of (and not just because I'm a dealer).

At any rate, we're way off topic at this point...
