Yeah, I always aim for jackass and lame, as long as I do it in a respectful manner.

Well you guys were right. I put one side on and it feels pretty wrong. Even worse is that it looks bad too. I did a great job with the install but the color is reflective chrome and my frame is too light a shade of brown. Can't even read it because the contrast between the two colors isn't very good at all.
Im going to remove it and put the other one on my car.
Hopefully no one gets confused and thinks it was actually built by them and not Honda...

To the naysayers though, if everyone only did what the folks in this forum thought was cool... it'd be pretty ****ing sad. Just sayin. My only real mistake was telling you guys about it. But I don't care what some strangers from the interwebs think.

And to the dude that called my bike 2nd rate swill or whatever- that wasn't very nice. It's at least a Sam Adams or thereabouts.

Right I'm curious to know what you think, but it doesn't affect whether or not I do something.

I'm more offended by your front brake being set up with the quick-release permanently open.

lol, fair enough. please enlighten me? i know nothing about brakes. i assume you mean that black lever thing. it doesn't matter where i set that, it goes to fully open once i apply the brakes.

is it unsafe? or just jackass?

The quick release is for making the removal of your wheel easier without having to either deflate your tire or undo your cable at the caliper. The cable should be installed with the QR down so the caliper opens slightly when it is flipped up.

Sheldon mentioned doing that on his site. Said that when he parks, he engages it, most people won't think to disengage it, and the bike is not able to be ridden.

Thanks man. I'll keep that in mind when I shorten the cable for the cross lever I'm installing soon (ditching the bar end lever). The brakes are just as they were when I got them. Untouched. So yeah I'm the dumbo who didn't know, but there's an even bigger dumbo who installed them who is supposedly a pro (Performance Bike on Halsted).
