Brake Bolt Problems

Hi,

I just got a Dia Compe BRS 101 front brake for my Windsor, but the bolt seems too long (or actually, the fork is probably drilled differently than usual).

When I try to tighten the brake on all the way, the recessed nut goes pretty far into the fork but doesn't make it all the way onto the little "ledge" inside. The end of the brake bolt makes it all the way to the end of the nut first, and I can't tighten anymore.

I guess I could just stack washers behind the caliper, but that looks goofy. Maybe a different nut with a thicker head, or some kind of spacer/washer to go around the nut? Shorter bolt? Where can I find such things online?

Any tips?

Thanks!

Sure, cut the one you have now. Dremel.

Your brake caliper should have come with two knurled washers. Use them.

If you are using the washers, get a shorter recessed nut at a local shop or as Batboy suggests - cut the one you have now.
