Chicagoans...What is this place?
I've been past it a number of times since moving here. It's at about 46 E. Chicago and I always see track bikes locked up outside. But I never see anything distinguishing about the store fronts that would lead me to understand why all these fixed riders hang out there. Anyone know what is in that area?

Just a few blocks west of Water Tower Place, right? I can't be sure, but I always had the feeling it was a messenger company.

Like 165 said, a Jimmy John's. I've talked to some of those cats in the summer every so often. If you really want to see a lot of track/messenger bikes locked up, go to LaSalle and Ohio - a messenger depot/grubbage spot. It was right next to the studio my band just recorded in, and so every time I went out, I got to look at some nice track bikes, talk to some messengers. It was a nice break from recording.

I think that's a for rent sign for the above units. Dude, I totally want to move there! Jimmy Johns all the time plus I can on the stoop with an Old Style 16oz fan can and check out all the fine ladies heading. Maybe on a nice Friday night I could stroll over to Gibsons for dinner & have a few drinks at Whiskey Sky afterwards...

i used to live @ 40 E Cedar St. right across from gibson's and the Frog Bar. Easy access to oak st beach and mag mile. used to work 2 blocks from wrigley and wither ride up clark st or the lakefront to work for 5 years. ah, the good old days/

Yeah, that sounds nice!
Years ago I worked for Bank One (it was First Chicago back then) at the main branch. I worked 3rd shift over one summer with two guys name Jose in some office. But the best part was riding home at 4am down Michigan Ave and down the lake front home.

yeah - I miss pushing through the canyon at 7am. Crossing the river southbound into the dark depths and swift speed of the loop...nothing like that in any other place I have ridden so far.
