well heres a list of what is remaining i think:

wheels - velomine formula ($155)tires - panaracer ($50-75)
lockring - shimano dura ace - velomine ($13)
bar tape - ($10)
rim tape - ($10)
tubes - ($10)
chain - ($10)

not sure if i missed something and the $ is just an estimate

You're either going to need proper tools to install your cog and lockring or add labor charges at the local bike shop.

ara35 10-09-12 02:59 PM

i believe i have the tools

speaking of local bike shop, i was thinking of taking it after completion. would they do a once over and true the wheels and all that?

Scrodzilla 10-09-12 03:13 PM

I'm not talking about a hammer and a screwdriver. A lockring spanner is a very specific tool.

Yeah but what is a once-over? Make sure the headset and bottom bracket are installed correctly? Or just look at your bike and give you a thumbsup.gif?

A lot of shops offer a safety inspection for about half the price of a box build, should be around $30-$40.

You don't need the wheels trued, especially from Velomine.

Tell them to double check the tension and that's it. Velomine does an excellent build with good tension, you certainly don't want some shop monkey messing with them. My first wheelset from Velomine went more than 6,000 trouble free miles before I wore through my rim and rebuilt the set.

ftfy - probably gonna be more than $10 for any one of those unless you get a screamin deal.

Granted, the 710 is technically $11, so I will thrown this out as well:

Nope. And that chainwhip won't work with 1/8 inch cogs.

so what tool do i need? and i am not sure what my cog is. i'll have to measure it i guess?

http://www.parktool.com/product/fixe...-wrench-hcw-17
or

or even better

But you might do a search on lockring tools in the forum as a couple people had an ingenious way to turn an old channel lock wrench into a lockring wrench.

ara35 10-10-12 02:03 PM

i think i'll get one on jenson because i already have a good amount in the cart. any other tool that is missing that i'll definitely need? dont have to look to hard, just if something catches your eye

prooftheory 10-10-12 02:10 PM

Pump?

edit: actually if you are using sram S300 you need the BBT19 bottom bracket tool.

edit2: Are you actually using the s300 or is it that mislabeled s100 courier powerspline thing? If you are using the courier powerspline crank then you need a different tool.

We weren't lying when we said this wasn't cheap.

I didn't actually use a bottom bracket tool of any kind to install mine. Just screwed it in as much as I could by hand and then tightened it down a bit with a big adjustable wrench. No issues after almost a year. YMMV

The one on Retro-gression is the real S300 and takes the BBT19.

so i have some minor updates. ordered everything and its on the way. had to sand the seat tube and redo it. painted the brake lever orange than realized i rather have it be just straight metal. brakes are now attached. working on putting the finishing coat on the frame and then waiting for my orders to come. heres some pictures.

re-sanded:
