bailey works vs Seagull
Yes, the ole which bag thread. My bad ahead of time. But I am looking to get help from those with experience. Ive used the search button and read through a lot of the threads and narrowed it down to two bags. I am looking at the medium sized seagull bag, and the bailey works super pro. I have done a fair amount of research on the bags and know peetry much the specs. What I am wondering is if guys have any flaws that you can say about either bag? Praises are welcomed too. I posted in the fixed gear section because courier type bag brand and fixed gears usually go hand n hand
Thanks

I don't know about the Bailey Works, but I've had my large Seagull bag for two years and vouch for it being strong, durable, and of great quality. Use it on the bike for larger loads, and as luggage for when I travel.

Uhm, what do you guys look for in bags to decide?
A few little details I'm into
Seagull; each bag fully customized, unique. a bit larger than bailey.
Bailey; reflective strips are ++

Do you think a medium seagull would be more suitible if I'm looking for more of a bag for daily usage?

No experience with Seagull. Are they made in the USA? Do you care?

I'm 6', so the large to me doesn't seem like overkill, but it is excessive for daily usage if you aren't consistently carting around large loads. It is large in person. I fit a week's worth of groceries for two, a week's+ amount of clothing/etc when I travel.

I lied. I have two Bailey bags. One courier bag I've been using for years, but is relegated to secondary status because the strap got most of the way burned through and it's looking a bit shabby now. The other is a non-courier Bailey product which I've been using for about two years now. Never had issues with either, both are rugged; there are probably better options available for the uses I've put them to, but they've worked well enough for how I needed them to that I haven't fretted my purchase decisions.

Yes I would prefer to get a handmade bag from the US.
haha. Thats cool, you have had the super pro and the 253. Do you like the reflective strips? or did you not find them as helpful as I'm imagining them.
And the strap is going out? how long have you had the bag and it seems you put your bags through the tests.
I wish. I'm not skilled enough to do that.

Dang so how do you like the strap on the seagull? I've never seen it in action before. The padding must be pretty decent if you're able to haul all of that comfortably.

Strap is fine, I have nothing to compare it to. For larger loads (40+lbs), you'd probably prefer a backpack. Heavy loads can make for a sore shoulder. I believe c0urt had a broken bone because of one?

I had to quit wearing my favorite bag because of a broken scapula ( lower shoulder blade, it is a rare break).
I then made a bag for the other shoulder. I still cant always wear my favorite bags because of shoulder issues.
you can make simple bags with simple fabrics with a normal machine, when you want awesome pockets and such, then you need an
awesome machine. I used a heavy duty and nice needles I got from a fabric store for around $150.
I started wearing a normal two strap computer bag for work, (computers and cameras are heavy, but I am going back to a messenger bag tomorrow) and my zipper broke. why I prefer velcro and plastic buckles

Maybe in the future, I might. But as of right now I do not think I'm gonna get into sewing. ha.

Is there any benefits from having a switchable shoulder strap? Also do you have that bag? I've never looked into ynots before.

I had a nearly empty bag, it only had my camera a few lenses, and a u-lock in it.
On the way home from a job interview i got hit by a car, and landed on my u-lock. that caused the tip of my shoulder blade to snap off.
was a bit unpleasant. heart stopped a few days later so taking care of all that and getting hospital gear and off around the shoulder was fun,
the timbuck2 can switch sides to I think, but they are not my favorite bags. just always on sale.

I have a medium Ynot junction bag. Only real complaint with it is the velcro on the end of the straps uses the same strip as the main flap, so they sometimes get in the way. Pretty nitpicky. Other than that, it's an awesome bag that's held up nice.

Dude, I have been reading the craziest stuff about you today. One time you fall asleep on the bike and ruin your thumb. Then you get hit by a car and your shoulderblade cracks in half. Then on top of all that your heart stops the next day? How are you alive? Maybe you should take a break from riding bikes?

it is ride my bike or cry my self to sleep at night.
plus i am attempting to get myself off of disability.
since I cant drive a car, and I feel there are a lot of people who deserve the dial a bus
and call a cab a lot more than me, I am still in better shape than a lot of you,
yes I can say that, i cam second in a set of gold sprints not to long ago, I was the fastest rider at the jimmie johns where I was, but when asked to make sandwiches or leave when my epilepsy got bad it was time to go. I quit doing triathalons and alleycats when I became a danger to myself and others
I cant take pain killers, so the broken ribs, shoulder, and torn up everything, from falling off my bike to fill out paper work and stuff and make doctors is a reminder every day of the shape I am in. loss of feeling in two fingers, limited hearing in my left ear. my ears constantly
ring. And I am a constant risk of passing out.
But i am still happy on my bicycle. It is sad the numbers of pairs of glasses i lost because of my bike.
You find something in life and you enjoy it.
And my heart stopped while answering the door to someone, had I been alone, that would have been much worse.

Anyway, I have a new question for the thread today. I'm about 6'1 and about 155. If I were to look at the bailey works, would a M or L be more suitable for me? I realize that they are only about 2 inch difference in length, but some of the pictures that I have been looking at make the L look huge on people, and sometimes the M looks kindof small. If someone who has experience with the Baileys let me know what size you got and how you like it.
