Pretty sure he meant he'll see me in Hell because I don't ride a Kilo either.

Probably shouldn't have been mentioned in the OP then.
|
I was attempting to ward off an endless stream of Kilo tt suggestions, but apparently you didn't get the hint.
Anyway, dog, I'm glad you've convinced yourself that your one-size-fits-all cookie cutter frame is the bestest ever for everyone. |
Based on the frame you were riding, and the frames you were interested, and the fact that you aren't some dumbass looking for his first sw8 fixay, a Kilo TT wouldn't have been suggested.... until you suggested it...
Sounds like you have a stick up your ass. |
It seems pretty clear that of all your options the Wabi is the best option, and it only comes in at 75 more than the BK. Not sure why OP is still arguing over what he Doesnt want (kilo).
|
He doesn't want the relaxed geometry that the Wabi has. Also, workmanship is a concern, and IIRC jdg had an issue with his.
I'd honestly pick up another BK if you didn't have an issue with the previous one. Also, if you're willing to go up to 775 for the wabi, have you considered a Toyo Godzilla? http://www.retro-gression.com/produc...track-frameset Doesn't really get more ****** than that, and it seems to be exactly what you're looking for. |
Dammit you guys, I just opened the popcorn. Keep arguing over stupid stuff...
|
Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up not changing my mind, but the thread gave me a clearer idea of what I really wanted and needed.
I ordered the Pake French 75. The geometry (59) is about exactly what I was looking for, I am curious about the aluminum and carbon fork (all my FGs have always been steel), and the price was too good. We'll see how it goes. I still have my eyes on a Wabi, but not until I get past my next N+1, which happens to be a new ss29er. Scrod's sale came a went so fast, I ended up having to go thru ebay. |

Report back when it is done, I am curious about that frame. Although Im not so sure the largest is big enough
|
You probably could have just asked him and he'd give you a deal anyway.
Unless he wouldn't and I should shut up for suggesting that he gives everybody a deal and ruin his business. |
yeah get back to us on the F75, Looks really solid, but have yet to see one/hear anything about them.
|
To be honest, I wouldn't doubt Scrod when he says they're nicer than people make them out to be.
It's probably something that'll last more than what most of us here on the forums can put it through. |

What color did you get?
|
Blue was the only color available in 59cm.
|
I could have gotten you a black one. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-fc/hiding.gif

Please Report back on your thoughts about the frame.
|
Right now I'm thinking that I wish it would get here faster.
|
If you don't mind me asking, what happened to the BK?

The Thomson seat post has been frozen in the seat tube for quite some time, which I found to be quite annoying since I decided over a year ago that the saddle was just a hair too high. I don't really know how or why it got stuck. I stored it indoors (at home and in my office) and only got caught in the rain once with it (actually 4 winters ago). For some reason, it is the most corrosion-prone bike I have ever owned. I have other steel beaters that always get ridden in the rain and are never cleaned or overhauled that are less corrosion prone. Anyway, I tried every nonviolent (and some violent) means I could think of to get the seatpost out and finally decided to sacrifice the seatpost by wrenching it out with a big pipe wrench. One good yank on it and the seatpost catastrophically exploded, leaving a fatal inch long tear in the seat tube. The remaining seatpost fragment is basically welded to the frame..its never coming out. I'm going to blame it on a defect rather than my own stupidity, because I really didn't even get a chance to start wrenching hard before it exploded. I should be pissed, but really I'm just glad to be done with the whole hassle and move on. Will try to post photos later. |
I want to see photos of that too! Have you tried to hammer the post down into the tube? To pry open the clamp opening?
|
Yes.
|
Seatposts suck.
