Darn, ok. What clipless pedals/shoes would you recommend for 40+ miles on the track bike.
I'd advise to get a shoe that uses a ratcheting system, not just velcro. |

I use shimano 105's, and shimano R087's. Love them.

Shimano 105 or R540 are both very good SPD-SL pedals for an excellent price. I'm not as familiar with other options but SPD, Look and Speedplay all have their cheerleaders.
Shoes? The pair that fits your feet the best. Go to your local shops, try on a bunch in your price range and buy the ones that feel the best. |

Meh, not too bad. I think I paid ~$120 for a pair of Lake MX170(w).

Have you mastered your no-handed trackstands yet? I wouldn't want to use clipless unless I was 100% on that.
|
Go to a lbs for shoes.

Once you can do that, the next step is juggling. You really need clipless for that next level ****.
Especially if your juggling ceramic bearings. Those things are fast! |

I already have Michilen pro 4 tires. Pretty hapy with them. I was looking into a Dura Ace track crankset. Thoughts anyone?

oops

if your current bearings are toast, by all means get high quality replacements. but if they're still serviceable, this is a pointless upgrade. myself? i'd do the stainless enduros before i'd do ceramic.

Ceramic bearings are 99.9% hype. I forget what the other .1% is.
