Still kicking.
I don't have the patience or attention span to use a trainer or rollers.

My old set-up:
I moved about 2 years ago, and rollers are in garage at the moment.

I have some CycleOps PVR rollers somewhere, 6 months or so or riding on them warped the PVC rollers. You have to send it in and then they decide if they're gonna replace them under warranty. F that, I'm gonna buy some Alu Nashbar rollers.

On an unrelated note, I tried to mount one of these things (got it for free) on a loaned trainer to keep the GP4000s from rubbing against the trainer for the road bike and ended up getting the tire mounted about 75% before giving up.
Then I tried taking the tire off and had the hardest ****ing time. Ended up cutting the tire off using my roommate's Cutco scissors. Damn things.
Other testimonials.

For the boredom issue I joined TrainerRoad this year and it makes the trainer bearable. I use it while watching movie/tv episodes on the computer. Today I watched Inner Space

There are a lot of guys that are trying to get ready for track this year but are too puss for the cold. We've been holding weekly training sessions in a warehouse. Say what you will, because I know its lame as ****, but tabata intervals and having others around you to keep yourself motivated makes it a good time. Music helps too.
