Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? faceplant!

so i'm riding thru the park last evening, on my way home from getting a burrito (mmm) and cruising along pretty good on the little asphalt bike path... i come up to a sharp turn, but figure the knobbies on my mtb can handle it. well, what i didn't see was the small puddle of water i was about to corner thru. my back wheel skidded out from under me and i went down on my side, absorbing most of the impact with my chin/nose/mouth. there was a lot of blood. i got home and realized i had bitten almost completely thru my lower lip, right under my soul patch. dang. just thought i'd share. any other similar experiences?

Bikes: A whole bunch-a bikes.

I nearly avoided a face plant the other day on my mountain bike by doing a super sized push up on a giant boulder with my teeth a quarter of an inch from smashing thereby bending and breaking (figuratively) my lower back. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't.

i had one the other day when i was back home after getting my student visa extended. it was pretty much all my fault but the guy got out of his car and everything asking if i was ok and was more concerned about me than his car.

i was riding way to close to a car in the bike lane/parking spots and there was construction so i tried to squeeze around on the right hand side when he suddenly stopped and my hand hit the rear end and i couldnt really stop. i went over and hit the ground. only got two minor scrapes on my right knee and a nice mark smack in the center of my phone's lcd for good, which i discovered when i got home. to say the least, a total stupid crash on my part and a brake wouldn't have helped what so ever. aside from making the fall more amusing to watch.
