Good bars to flip and cut
 

Any suggestions for good bars to flip and cut, something around 40 or 42 cm and hopefully without any cable indentations. Cheap is good but comfort is more important. I prefer cut bars to the Airwings I once had, they were too long and wide for me. I like a short, curvy pair.

It's for a threadless stem if that matters. Suggestions on a cheap 90cm stem are welcome too.

If you're going to flip and cut them, I'd say the thrift store and the dumpster are the best options.

Too bad I am not home , I have a Nitto 90cm.
Cinelli are good ones but due to being rare to get sometimes . Keep the with drops. Try Nittos 123 series.

I was gonna say... I've been slightly interested to clip n' flip my B123's. If you cut them low enough on the drop, they should have a really pleasing curve with a good hand position or two when flipped.

Anyone have pictures of how this turns out? Specifically, with Nitto or other track bars?

As for a cheap 90mm stem, if you have access to Peformance or Supergo, the Weyless line of MTB stems look like a good deal for the money. $10-16 on sale.

I had originally planned to flip and cut the steel bars on my soon-to-arrive Pista, but my lbs said they'd give me a credit on them towards some Profile Design Stoker bullhorns, so I kinda let them steer me in that direction.
Nightfly's question has me wondering about it.
Anyone with a 2005 Pista want to comment on how the bars would look flipped and cut?

go to a used shop...
hold some handlebars...
see what's comfortable...
your hands/arms/shoulders are different from everyone else's...
when the pista gets there, put the bars on... cover up the drop with your hands... it'll look like that...

Yep. Hit up the local bike co-op, or a bike shop with lots of used stock or old parts lying around, and choose from literally a pile of old road drop bars. I found a nice pair of road drops for $10, and cut of the drops and now they're horns!

If you're lucky you'll find them pre-cut. Broadway had a pair for $3 but I ended up giving them to my dog walker.

But trevor, half the fun is cutting them yourself and determining the exact shape that you want. I experimented with some cheap steel dropbars off a garbage find huffy, and then cut the bars to the shape that I liked. I also learned that a hose clamp makes an eccellent hack saw guide! :D

I flipped and cut these. I love 'em. Nice and narrow. One of the few surviving pieces of a head-on collision.

I got an aluminum 41cm drop h/bar off a '70s Schwinn Supersport that are kind of wierd shaped. It has a 11cm drop but they actually rise about 5 degrees from the center before they drop. They also flare out 4cm from the top (10 or 15 degrees, I'm just estimating).
It's in fairly decent shape but not perfect, and would be a perfect candidate for flip and cut.

I'd be willing to just give them to sombody here for mailing costs. Please let me know, send me a PM or something.

I forgot to add that on the left end of the bar is stamped "British Made" and has a oval with "GB" inside it.

I have flipped and cut radonneur bars - VERY comfy curves!

R-bars are so hot. They are also excellent for offroading.

Yeah, i catch the bus over the mountain everyday, so thats to protect the paint from getting scratched by the bike rack arm.

Pardon the blatant Photoshoppery, but I think I had this in mind more for clipped n' flipped B123's.
