Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Well done on the conversion. Did you paint the lugs by hand or mask them off and spray them? What paint did you use?

My geared commuter is a radically altered MB-1 so I have a soft spot for Bridgstones.

Where did you end up getting the paint done?

Thanks! No---the JFX thing sounds really cool, but I can't make it. Commuting is about the only chance I get to ride anymore, for the most part.

Thanks. I found a really good deal at a local place here in Baltimore (A&A Powder Coating): it was just $45 for the blast and powdercoat.

Anthony---about the lugs---I hand painted them with a teeny tiny paint brush that I got at a local art supply store, so I could paint the edges of the lugs without getting paint on the tubes and without masking. The paint was "One-shot," which is designed to be used by sign painters for store windows, metal, and other impervious surfaces. It is super viscous (reputedly requires only one coat) and is supposed to be weather proof. I put two coats on and it's held up pretty well, although there are a few spots where it rubbed off while I was building it. It gives a very smooth, glossy finish, though, which I really like. It was difficult to find locally, so I ended up contacting the manufacturer and having it shipped to me from one of their distributors in SC.
