Wish I lived closer to Portland/had a car so I had someone to ride with. The only bike shop in this town closed, and there aren't any clubs down here. Sucks man

****, I never knew how far away Newberg was, I just googled it. I'd be stoked too, I mostly just ride by myself lately since all my friends have given up on bikes to focus on getting drunk.

Yeah I ride by myself whenever I can between all the homeworks. Which means I don't get to ride much.

ive been sortof sick for about a week now with a cough and lots of yellow phlegm, last night i spent most of the night hacking up a lung and i have to be at work in 20 mins.

this will not be a productive day.

Found this Schwinn Crisscross laying at the curb on top of some cut tree branches. It may not be the best fine in the world but I figured I could tune it up and have it as a geared commuter, since I need one of those and don't have money to drop on anything I want. Digging that it is a step-thru frame, my short inseam makes mounting up sketchy at times if a bike has stuff in panniers or basket.

Today I sold the dmr. What replaces it, you'll have to wait and see. (Thinking path racer.)

Pumptrack is no more and I just don't want to drive the distance to get to the next closest.

Today I collided with a roller blader who thought it was prudent to be looking at his phone while rolling down the viaduct in oncoming traffic (ie. me). Luckily neither of us were seriously hurt though, although I did bowl him over and then also took a spill into the concrete barrier. The bike seems to have fared ok as well with just a few gouges in the bar tape. I can deal with that.

I guess it is about that time of year again when we have to relinquish the commuter lanes for the summer crowd.

It's justthe gopro handlebar mount mounted as far back as I could on the chainstay with a couple of those bracket things to get done distance away from my feet/chainstay.

Assuming it's nice this weekend I'm gonna try it out at the track, tried last week with a helmet cam and it sucks.

Try to make it fit on the head tube, you should be able to get a decent front on shot from there without bar sway. It is where I tend to keep mine mounted.

The good people at our city transit department have given us a bay to store and work on bicycles for the adaptive cycling program I am working with.

Today I installed the axle kits I had brought to my shop to modify, built up some seat supports, and swapped a lot of pedals.

One of the conversions... it is a singlespeed.

We will give all of these away on Saturday.

I'm curious - is there a reason the rear axle is so wide other than to maximize stability? I just noticed that it looks like the same width on every trike regardless of size. Is it a function of part availability?

Stability... these are for kids with physical disabilities who may have balance issues.

So are the axles purposely wider than what would typically be found on a trike? This is just idle curiosity but I am wondering if things like cargo trikes might typically be made narrower? For the record, your job must leave you feeling pretty fantastic on the days when you see the kids getting the bikes.

Worksman trikes' rear tracks aren't significantly narrower, if any, than Schwinn Town & Country.

I think they make them as wide as possible yet still narrow enough to get through your average door.

Today I started the tear down and cleaning on the CrissCross I found the other day. Nothing too challenging yet, but then again I have yet to try and get the BB apart. All I know is the previous owner loved to ride through sand, the crankset and spindle were caked in sand.

Today I started to work on the Path Racer and put in 40 miles on the surly.

Today I got up and resurrected Brigitte... she has been retired for almost 3 years.

Tonight I swapped the temporary stem and steel bars to a better fitting 110 with wider bars and some Superbe drilled levers (cause I had them kicking around).
