Today I found out that four people have officially dropped the history course I'm taking, which leaves it at me, a senior, and the professor.
So far it's been my favorite class. There's just something so, so awesome about sitting down with an expert for 3 hours a week and learning through discussion (rather than lecture). also, this is a quick edit, but I had my first bike coop shift last night. no one came in :( Hope you get some people next time! |

That's pretty neat to get that kind of interaction with the professor. I understand history isn't the most exciting subject to be studied, but it can be fascinating with the right motivation or professor. Trying to stay with my statistics class, only been in it 3 weeks now and already feeling burnt out. Professors method was to give us all the hard stuff & formulas first and have us practice throughout the whole semester so we aren't stressed out during finals. Now it's just finding that motivation....
Hope you get some people next time! Having no one in the class is great! It can be hard because classes here work in a conference style, though that's also one of the best parts. It just means you need to pay attention and actively contribute. I only have one lecture a week and everything else is done via discussion with peers with a professor moderating/guiding. I absolutely love it. |
today my serpentine belt broke on my car on my way home, lost cooling, alternator, and power steering for a few blocks till the car started to overheat
i managed to wrangle it near my aunts house so i can work on it, thank god i have off tomorrow cars man. why? |

Then I got a bike... F*** cars. |
Every day I get on the bike instead of driving, I regain a little piece of my soul.
|
this is what i get for only riding 150 miles this year and commuting on the bike maybe 3 times. what a dick.

Today, just now, I easily put on a pair of jeans with a 31" waistline that I haven't worn in probably a decade. Six months ago I could barely stuff my fat gut into a 33" with a bunch of overhang. I've since lost over 10 lbs, mostly in my gut and butt, and it feels great to be able to ride on the drops w/o my belly getting in the way. :D

Today I picked up and installed a brand new White Industries ENO 18T freewheel for $20. Steal of a deal!!
|
successful serpentine belt transplant, engine light still on but i suspect it will go away in a few days.
typical behavior when my car overheats |
On Thursday night, at the rock-climbing gym, I dicked around in the weights area, and was able to build up to 1 set of loaded squats (10x150lbs). No back pain.
Today, I just got back from a ~3.5hrs steady ride, but really let it rip up a few climbs in the latter half of the ride. I'm back *****es! My plan is to still take it (mostly) easy until October, when I would like to begin base in earnest. Now that I'm confident of my body, I'll resume my search for a good coaching service. I'm excited and motivated to train and apply myself to earning my cat2 upgrade next year! |
Good luck. Feels good to finally get over an injury hurdle.
Today I am continuing to slowly improve my weightlifting. Actually kind of excited to get into some attempted serious training over the winter. |
i'm liking this page...good vibes.

Today I woke up to 104 degrees and I want to kill myself.

Did 50 miles today, got lost and ended up in Brighton Beach Brooklyn. Took a break and talked to an old Russian guy about him doing 110 miles when he was younger on his Peugeot before it got stolen.

Stayed up for 24 hours between school, work, and bike party. I got to tall bike for a number of those hours and I got them digitz. Then I slept for almost the whole day following. I aint 19 no more.
|
Chopped the steer tube on my Straggler. The bike is finished, I guess.
