Nice work! I was wanting to hit that but too broke and didn't get a chance to email beg for volunteer position in trade for race entry. Was still kinda tired from Het Meer over the weekend too.

Applied for another job in San Diego, hopefully I hear back from this one instead of playing a drawn-out waiting game.

Good luck man! I've been playing that game for a couple of years now. Hope you get good news!

heymatthew Thanks, I hope so too. I have a great job here in NYC but I have been in NY my entire life and I need to get away from the cold (well, cold for me). Winter is the bane of my existence.

I live in South Carolina and I complain about hating the summer, but as soon as we get a little ice on the ground and the temp drops below the 40's, I'm ready to move to Florida so I totally feel you on that one. Keep us posted!

You gonna make it out to the next one? It's so close to my house I have no excuse not to go.

Today we got outrageously busy and a customer told my coworker to **** his ****. Was pretty funny. He then threatened to leave us a bad review and said "The pen is mightier than the sword." So my coworker told him "Have fun playing with your pen." Perfect retort.

Who writes reviews with a pen anyway? Psh. Amateur.

Those look amazing! Did you use mag polish? I see a lot of guys on the *** forums doing 1911's and Glock slides with mag polish and a buffer wheel. Interested to know if you did something similar.

Nice. Was waiting for the pic.

Can you tell me what products/tools and methods you used please? I have a seat post I want to do. Thanks.

I've done some things but this particular job I let my buddy do cause he's great at it. He used a bench grinder with buffing wheels on it. The cranks had Some sort of silver anodize on them the same way the Sugino 75s and Dura Ace FC 7600 cranks do. So with a cotton wheel and black rouge he removed that coating. Then used brown rouge. And finished off with white rouge on a flannel wheel. About two hours worth of work.

Damn I miss home (OC). Hey look, it's January, we better put on jeans and a sweatshirt so we don't freeze.

Good for you! I'm a big fan of conversing with our representatives. Hope you get the results you're searching for. I did a few little pokes in regards to net neutrality this morning myself.

Huh? Your location says Southwestern, Ontario. How do you have a congressman in a country with no congress?

Yeah, I'm gonna get down there, barring some kinda disaster.

Easy...I'm a Canadian landed immigrant and a US citizen.
My US citizenship is connected to my last US address, in this case, Pennsylvania.

Today I found out that four people have officially dropped the history course I'm taking, which leaves it at me, a senior, and the professor.

So far it's been my favorite class. There's just something so, so awesome about sitting down with an expert for 3 hours a week and learning through discussion (rather than lecture).

also, this is a quick edit, but I had my first bike coop shift last night. no one came in :(

Just sayin' but people pay outrageous money for that sort of student to professor ratio....
If you need a letter of rec from a non-science professor, here's a great opportunity.

You're telling me, lol. But yeah... it's really really costly. I consider myself very lucky that I won't need to take out any loans.

I'm just happy to get this experience as a freshman, and less than two weeks into the school year.

Today I decided to start perusing Bike Forums again. Some updates:

I moved. I no longer live in the Canada of Chicago. I now live on the near-Northwest side in FG central. Ironically, I no longer own one. I'm riding a CX bike these days. Looking to grab a FG again soon, though. The new neighborhood is great. I can walk to a great brewery, a distillery, and a ton of restaurants (one with a Michelin star) in a matter of minutes, and 90% of my Chicago friends live near me. I (mostly) quit smoking, and I am Executive Sous Chef for a company that owns two bars, is opening a farm-to-table Mexican place within the next three months, and just closed on two other properties. I've been reunited with the lady that gave me my first sous gig, and I'm super excited to be her right hand again.

I don't get to ride as much as I'd like, because work, but life is pretty swell.

How have you all been?
