Today im over the giant basket on hypnotoad. Wondering what i should change it to now. Considering pan airs and bringing back the randobag

Also trying to figure out if i should build new carbon fat wheels for the specialized, a second mtb of the squish flavor, a cx bike, or start the SS Ti bike build that i already have a fork for

What's the Ti frame? You should build that up as a sscx bike if it has enough tire clearance.

The plan is for a Honzo, geo would be poo for a cross bike and id have to get another fjork since i sure as **** wouldn't run one with 120mm travel and boost hub spacing

The idea is to have a racerboy bike that i can throw gears on and use for future bikepacking radventures

Oh nice, that sounds super fun. I actually did my first few cross races on my old XC hardtail with a 120mm travel fork since it was all I had that'd work... much, much more fun now on a real cross bike for sure

Mechanic quoted me $860 to fix coolant leak(s). Bye-bye automobile. Can't wait to go back to car-free life.

2004 Civic. I don't need it because I work from home, so I was keeping it as a convenience. It has recently become the opposite of a convenience, and given how much it was already costing me to keep, I'm not putting another dollar into it.

I can imagine, i dont have any plans on racing cross but if i get one it would be nice to have a "road bike" that can also fit fatter tires with some bite when i do some longer rides on questionable surfaces

Today I had the ingenious idea of getting some automotive clearbra material and placing it on key areas on my bikes to reduce scuffs / chipping.

Lizard Skins makes several kits. I have it on my powder coated road bike.

https://lizardskins.com/road/bike-pr...rame-kit-clear

The one linked is a big kit but smaller, less expensive kits are available so you don't have to buy too much.

How much do you need? I have a few small pieces you can have. Nothing more than an inch long, good for protecting against cable rub on the head tube and that sort of thing. Let me know.

I appreciate the offer and thanks for the link! I can get a roll of the clearbra for under $20 so I will probably go that route

Yeah, there are SS-specific classes for most groups of most races. Usually still race together, but scored/ranked separately.

Word. A week from Saturday is my next race. Stoked.

Today I accidentally overslept and wasn't able to get my commute miles in today. Bleh.

Yes.

It's worth keeping in mind that as a new racer the SS class is an open category. This means you could be lining up with Cat 3 and higher level racers, and they will rip your legs off. You can ride a SS bike in any regular lower category (4/5) if you want to.

That's pretty smart. My road bike came with a clear guard on the drive side chainstay to protect it from chain slap. I almost pulled it off but then I was like "Oh." Side note - clear bras turns up interesting Google image results.

Nope, not gonna google that.

This was the patina prior to powder coat. I miss it in a masochistic kind of way.

So I did a Google image search of:

Clear bra
Clear bras

What a difference one single letter makes. If you want pictures of nude colored bras, do the second search. If you want to see car related clear bras, do the first one.
