6-10" of fresh powder is pretty much unrideable on any bike.
If i remember correctly you live in fat bike central tho so there's a good chance you'll have some groomed trails that will be rideable |

A foot of snow? Not a chance in hell. As for groomed trails, there are some in the state, but I probably will not be travelling to ride them. This will be more of a commuter bike for me as I try to get some really cold rides in under my belt this winter. I rode studded 29er's last year and it just wasn't what I hoped it would be. |
if you got ice to deal with a fatter tire still isn't gonna help you, you'll still need studs
Fatbikes aren't magic, but they do expand your riding capabilities quite a bit. I found the way you can just ride on the beach like its dirt to be the most remarkable ability of a fatbike |

Today I bought a fat bike. EP from my shop so it was kind of hard to turn down. I had assembled it right before fall and it never sold. Norco Sasquatch 6.2 rigid. 1x10 Shimano SLX, carbon fork, Avid hydraulic brakes, Schwalbe 26x4.8 meats....pretty friggin sweet. Get to try it out this weekend because we are forecasted anywhere from 6-10" by Monday morning. No pictures yet, hard in my apartment and the lighting in the hallway is mediocre at best.
Scratched the hell out of the rear stay by loading it in my non bike friendly car. Guess I don't have to worry about that first crash now. Norcos are very underrated bikes. Good pricepoint as well. One of my favorite things about norcos is their lower than average standover on their full suspension bikes. The opposite can be said for big S though. |

That's sweet! Don't worry about those scratches unless you're nagrom. They'll get colleagues real soon if you ride it as intended.

Looks like a fun ride. Get some pictures of it in the snow!

If it involves working on a bike, or a new/used bike, it cannot be bad.
|
Now I want a fat bike.
|
I want a big fat dummy and I literally have no use for it, yet I find myself looking for excuses to buy one

I contacted a guy on red.dit selling a Schwinn Prelude. 25" frame, prefect for my size, but the price kinda has me thinking about passing on it. $50 from the frame/fork and a whopping $80 for shipping. So, you guys think $130 is fair? It's hard to find bikes that size which aren't 50lb gas pipe frames and in decent condition. I like the color too.

That shopping is pricey... If you buy it we could ride pink bikes together though.
|
Tell him to use bikeflights and pay $80 total
That pink is dope |

Dat pink.
Today I bought a well loved Cross Check frame set for cheap, because dirt. Going to be my first build from just a frame. Now to decide on SS or geared... |
