I care as well.

Proper tire appearance is critical to the balance of the whole universe. It only takes one bike being incorrectly shod to throw the whole thing out of wack. It's a really big deal.
|
Looks matter. How you and your bike looks matters most at red lights when everyone in their cars are watching you.
Housewives in minivans checking you out.... Men make facial gestures but secretly wish they were you... The guy with the mountain bike on the back of his Jeep doesn't really understand people who ride on pavement... The bottle goes into the cage as the light for cross traffic turns yellow. Your light turns green and you clip in, smoothly accelerate through the intersection at just the right cadence, gracefully settle into the saddle as you hit about 20MPH, yielding the lane so the motorists can pass. That's when it matters most how you look. You represent, and have a responsibility to look your best when the rest of the world is watching, and judging. And the number one reason why you must look your best is that sublime moment when a child, typically an eight year old boy, looks at you with awe out of the back window of a minivan and then snaps his head around to tell everyone in the car that the cool bike rider just waved at him. "Mom! He waved at me! He waved at ME!!!" You have just become his hero, and might have just changed his life. This is why you must always look your absolute best, and be sure to smile. https://www.dropbox.com/s/e9ndgxac60...small.jpg?dl=1 -Tim- |

Today I realized I've reached a milestone in my running. Before heading out on a jog yesterday, I asked my daughter to drive and meet me at my intended destination. She didn't want to go that far. She's only been driving for a year and is still nervous about going on the freeway. So I ran, then rode a train most of the way back home. She met me at the train station.
It was only 14 miles, but I feel good knowing I can run farther than my teenager is willing to drive. |
Got third in my race today, p cool. Followed the right wheels, put up a good sprint, but the two guys that finished ahead of me are a good bit stronger and more experienced, so I'm not mad about it

Last year, I did two long bike races. I want to continue that kind of stuff, but there's only so much time and money to divide among biking, running, work, family, etc. |

Today I am realizing that Norco is pretty much garbage and doesn't work that well. Not sure how people can get addicted to these.

Less than 5 miles in a new tire. Whatever it was, it eats rim too.

I was trying to decide if you were talking about the bikes or the welding supply company, never even knew the drug by that name. I've been prescribed Lortab and Vicodin - they don't do much for me except block my GI tract.
