Everyone knows the Earth is still and the rest of the universe moves.

Today I knocked 1:10 off my best time at the local CX course. Feeling good about it. I'm still about a minute away from the legit fast guys though.

Today I did 30 miles, wanted to make it 40+ but realized my headlight was dead at mile 25, just before sunset.

edit - Plugged it in when I got home and it was indicating full charge. Tried turning it on again. Nothing. Took out the battery, checked everything, put it back in. Nothing. Shook it a few times. Nothing. Shook it again. Turns on as if nothing was ever wrong. Not amused.

You wasted a lot of time shaking it. Next time just smack it against something. It's a more sophisticated repair method with a higher success rate.

Gravel riders said there are some hills up near Gainsville.

That was actually a relatively flat ride for North Georgia. My ride last weekend was 5800 ft.

Flat Florida sounds really nice right now.

I live in Gainesville, and if anyone says this place is hilly then they have never been out of the state. lol.

The steepest hills here are just overpasses that cross I-75

Maybe it was Ocala?

Ocala does have some continuous rolling hills. There is a Century ride every year that goes from Gainesville to Ocala through "Horse Country" called the "Horse Farm Hundred". 2250 ft of gain over 100 miles is still nothing in comparison. Here is the link to the course if you want to see the profile.

Metric century and a little extra today on the geared bike with a couple of guys. Slower average than I would have liked but it was nice to be out on the road. Preparing for an organized century in 2 weeks. Bought a jersey from an LBS here that has a club that I joined. The sizing is all off. Jersey is sweet, but it is too big. Next size down is inappropriately tight, like sausage casing. I guess it is better to be a bit big than spray painted on. I know jerseys are supposed to be tight but damn, this is unreal.

Suppose it was metric century day and I didn't get the memo.

Instead, today I went to the pool.

Good riding boys.

jealous of all the riding. I kicked off yesterday for an (intended) 4 hrs on the road but just couldn't do it - too busy w moving and such. Instead I went for 2 and slammed it pretty hard during a few discrete ~10-15' segments.

Went on ebay to look at cheap road bike frames. Found two Mercxes, a GT, a Cannondale, and a Raleigh that would all probably fit me and I might end up buying one...

Today I'm also fed up with manufacturer misrepresentation of their products and pushing outright crap.

I returned a $500 Garmin Edge yesterday. It was supposed to have 15 hours battery life but that is only possible in battery save mode which turns the screen off. I didn't buy a $500 GPS to ride around with the screen off. The battery lasts only 4.5 hours with the screen on.

I purchased a yoga mat yesterday to go under my rollers and woke up this morning with a headache. The thing is emanating a fetid odor and is now outside on the patio. The whole house smells like chemicals, like mineral spirits. I retrieved the receipt out of the garbage and back it goes!

There are a few other items I'm pretty disappointed with, probably past the warranty but an evangelical mission to post some reviews should make me feel better.

/rant.

I have a Garmin EDGE 810 and at 4.5 hours of on screen time I might be at maybe half battery or so, maybe less. I have no doubts that it will last me at least 8-9 hours at a charge. 15 hours would be pretty unheard of if it was actively running with the screen on and GPS. When I first got it, the battery didn't last very long, but now that it appears to be conditioned it lasts a lot longer.

A few weeks ago, I found that youtuber Zach Gallardo's videos and he seemed to me to be the embodiment of SSFG.

It reminded me of the site and how unstable I used to be, demonstrated by my posts. Good to see it's still alive.
