I see what you did there. Last night my car said -11°F for the temp, phone said -8°F feels like -16°F. Michigan is highly underestimated for weather. This year, we had a 100 degree temperature change. It was in the 90's this summer, and now it has been in the negatives for a few days. It seems as though most people think our summers are in the mid to upper 60's and that we get snow. It is so much more than that. Anyway, enough with the weather.

Today I cleaned up my SS mtb in hopes of a possible sale.

Today I broke the chain on my road bike while riding home from the grocery store.

TMonk 12-29-17 10:08 AM

Do you carry a chain tool? Were you able to bypass the RD and ride home single speed?

Nah, didn't have my tools on me. It was only a mile to get home, and most of it is slightly downhill, so I just walked and coasted.

Saw some **** on a fixed gear riding wheelies between lanes on Las Vegas Blvd on my way to work then turning around and pedaling in front of stopped side traffic and putting his hands in the air. Sure fire way to cause an accident or get run over.

Took the single speed out for the first ride of 2018. With the wind to my back and the sun out, I reckon it was a full 20 degrees out.

Nice scenery... The ocean, palm trees, and a lugged Cinelli. Can't get mad at that :) Is that Santa Monica?

Started off the year with a 33 mile road ride. Plus side of not being able to party last night is that I was able to ride a bike today.

50voltphantom 01-01-18 07:23 PM

New Years day ride with like 50 other people @ -10F. My feet got cold, but that's it.

Unkle Rico 01-01-18 10:45 PM

Did a quick 10miler today and it was ok -- havent been on the bike nearly as much as I have wanted to in the last few months.

johnnytheboy 01-02-18 02:54 PM

well, goal completed.
rode every single day of 2017 for a total of 5,435 miles, 415hrs and 617 rides. yesterday was the first day in 367 days i didn't ride a bicycle....felt weird.
i rode in snow, ice, downpours, through mountains, at the beach and in 100*+ temps. single speed, geared, bikepacking, fast road rides....i pretty much did it all.
i can say i'm proud of my accomplishment.

motrheadsroadie 01-02-18 03:24 PM

hell yeah, base miles.

TMonk 01-02-18 03:33 PM

seau grateau 01-02-18 03:44 PM

What did you ride?
any word on your bikes?

TimothyH 01-02-18 04:08 PM

The snowy tires on this bike remind me of a margarita.

No word on the bikes. I plan to make a run of the local pawn shops soon.

Here's help: you should get one.

What are you looking at?

Want a legendary steel frame with a modern groupset?

Here's my problem;
"Maybe I should just get an entry level standard geared road bike and be done with it instead of screwing around with a custom Wabi build"
"Yeah, Ok, but why get a standard road bike when you could get something that can fit wider tires and ride off-road?"
"You mean like a cross bike?
"Yeah."
"You just built a SS cross bike, what's the point?"

...what am I doing with my life? :crash:
