T47 or BSA?
Minimal frills. Besides the entire concept of getting a custom fillet brazed canti cross bike in 2018. |

It's all downhill from here. Get out while you can!!! *wink* |
Today will be my first commute of the year. January in Michigan, and it is not freezing and all the snow has melted for now.

Today I took down the Christmas tree.
Yesterday I watched a bunch of MTB videos even though I don't have one. Being injured is boring. This one got me all sweaty and anxious just watching. https://youtu.be/tFjK_3i-NHQ But you KNOW that if somebody actually got hurt badly or killed you wouldn't be seeing it, of course. |

But it's been good for biking. Inspired by Veganbikes's accomplishment last year, I set a goal to ride every day in 2018.* Almost a month in, I haven't missed a day yet. My other goal for this year is to run 500 miles. So far, I have run zero miles. I'm doing better with my biking than my running. * I plan to ride every weekday and Saturday. I don't ride on Sundays. |

Here in Utah, we've had a remarkably mild winter. Way too little snow, and if that doesn't turn around, it will be very bad for us this summer.

I'm in the midst of the 15 minutes a year I start to think having a fatbike would be cool. The fact is, I need to stop being a wuss, bundle up and ride my cross bike instead of staring at it in my living room.

I'm sorry, maybe it's Johnny I was thinking of. I get you guys mixed up sometimes. Whoever rode every day in 2017, you inspired me.

TIL I don't know how to measure snow very well. We ended up with a total of just shy of 10" of snow. Didn't actually go out there and measure, just did a visual of what I thought it was. Way off. And yes, I do have a fat bike, and no, it is not fun to ride in slushy and salty leftover snow.

Been preparing for a 10k. I forget how much running beats you up.

Be careful increasing mileage like that.
It is bad to do so on the bike but especially running. Increasing running miles too quickly carries significant risk of injury. 10% per week is the recommendation and that is based on lots of people's real world experience vis a vis injuring themselves. Rip a muscle and then you will be off the bike too. -Tim- |
