today is the blackhawks parade. i'm not going because i'm not crazy (also work) but holy **** there are already thousands of idiot suburbanites drunk/rowdy/stupid on public transit and wandering the streets. my friend who works in the loop said riding to work was awful, lots of pedestrians in the bike lane and stuff. i'm lucky that i'm just far enough north that there are lots of people on the sidewalks but my commute was fine.

I've seen Mogwai twice, they put on a damn good show too.
The only one I'm missing is Godspeed You Black Emperor. They're on my bucket list but who knows if it'll ever happen.

Mildly on topic, my friend who owns the local card shop is in to cycling I found out today. We've been playing for like 10 years, and I just found out. 45 miles planned for tomorrow. So many matching interests, glad DOMA got turned over, I might have to marry the guy.
Our sqrls are coming too, it's gonna be pretty leisurely.

Yeah so... I pulled a Tarmogoyf pack 1, pick 1. Sup $140 card. I was joking around earlier in the day with Jesse saying it would be funny if I got one and what I would do if I did.
I think I'm a Prophet... or a psychic. Either way, maybe I should start playing the lottery.

Fresh Garbage
First time going out to some single track. Ate it on a downhill hairpin turn and learned how not to do those. Luckily there were a couple small trees right there and I grasped for branches before I could go tumbling down the side of the hill.

Today I put a JDM grill onto the WRX.

I forgot this story from last night:
I met a friend at a bar and rode my bike there. Quiet neighborhood and a seat right at the floor to ceiling front windows, so I only u-locked my frame and front wheel (normally I leash the other wheel). Well, we're sitting there drinking and I see these two dudes stop and look at my bike, and suddenly one of them bends over and touches my rear skewer. I yell "What the ****!", knock on the window, and make the universal "what the ****" arm gesture when they look over.
They came inside and apologized, "sorry, i'm a bike mechanic and was explaining to my friend what a fixed gear is". Nice enough dudes, though I wasn't sure what to say when he complimented the threadless stem/headset. Like, isn't that pretty common? It's what came stock on the bike. Then he went on and on about some idea he had for locking bolts that you could use on every part of the bike. Didn't make any sense to me so I shrugged.
/cool story bro

lol, i always feel a little bad when i get super defensive on someone and it turns out to be nothing
lots of times people come up on the right of me like they dont see me or theyre trying to pass (in a car) and im like "hey *******!!" and then they turn right.
oops.
today i had to spend $85 for someone to scan my fingerprints in order to keep working at the college since im not a student anymore. so much for going out to eat and buying bike things and new vans this week.

In fruita CO for the weekend to ride some singletrack. Its 5pm and a 102 outside. Good God I'm going to die.
If I don't make it back, someone start a premium rush thread in my memorial.

I think you're joking, but 9.5 miles at 17.7 mph avg on a 44x17 gear (spinnninnn, considering we spent a lot of time loafing downtown and/or trackstanding) in 90 deg heat with high humidity. I went and stood in the server room to cool down after. Now all the heatsinks probably smell like asparagus sweat.

this is where I want the facebook like button. so wait, are you an Aston mech? someone (probably a pro athlete) was driving one around my neighborhood this winter and the cackling sound on the shut-throttle overrun was really pornographic. so nice.

I do auto body work on mainly higher end European cars, its like 75% Porsche/BMW/mercs/Audi with some random lower end then every once in a while a truly high end car. I made sure to give it a couple revs once I got it in the shop.
#1523
Still kicking.
Today I put in 44 miles.

if i had that eqiupment, i would never go to the gym. not into machines but love me some squats and presses.
