Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? VISP Love !

So I just saw this new VISP thread and figured that since we have a Leader Love thread, why not a VISP Love thread as well:

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ame-Bike-Build

I bought my VISP TRX 790 frameset on eBay 4 years ago in an auction and paid more for shipping from China than the auction sale price

I initially built it up using a lot of junk parts I had laying around and it looked like heck, but over time I've changed out parts and it's become a real sweet ride. Despite the very heavy frame and fork, I've managed to pare its weight down to 18.8 lbs, and could easily knock off another pound if I changed over to a carbon fork. It's ultra stiff and responsive, but does have a pretty harsh ride. I'm currently using Shimano mountain SPD pedals so I can use walkable shoes and sandals with recessed cleats. Gearing is a lowish 43 X 16 to make an easy ride even up steep hills but still spin down hills at over 30 mph and maintain about 20 mph on the flats.

Looks great! I would imagine the frames were heavier back then, so that's still impressive you got under 19 with that!

looks great but that's about it. I don't really miss mine. TT, you have better experience with them in terms of racing so I'll differ my opinion to yours.

Actually, I've never raced this frame, not even taken it to the track. I did have aero bars on it for awhile, but really didn't like the way it rode with them.
