Could I get some help with this build?
Hey guys. I'd really appreciate some other brains on this. I'm building up my dream bike. It's going to be single/fixed because I find I don't switch gears at all riding around, preferring to diesel through and get my blood flowing. It'll be ridden on the roads. Would like help on making this thing lighter. I'm 5'6'', 130 lbs.
Budget: Originally I had it planned for under $2000, but that turned out to be really high. Now I don't want to exceed $1500, but there's still plenty of room to play around on with that. Note that a lot of these parts are placeholders. I priced everything as being bought new from online stores. Brake levers, saddle, and seat post will definitely be something else. I'll be spending a month or two or three scouring Ebay and the like, so I know it will be even cheaper than it is now. If you have any recommended parts to keep an eye out for, let me know! I LOVE NOS Italian parts
Design: Going for an old school look. Kilo Team frame from BD is the one with lugs, which will have a custom paint (still getting quotes). All parts sort of have an older look to them, like the cranks, but most parts I don't really care about that, just I want everything to be chrome, silver, or polished metal of some sort. No colored parts (unless I can strip them), AND NO CARBON. I don't care about brand, but I do care for quality. I know how bike manufacturing works so if you know brand name parts sold under another name that are still as good, LET ME KNOW!
Questions:
Wheels:What I really need help on are the wheels. I've read old posts on building sub 1600g wheels, but they all have outdated links and parts I can't find. I did the best I could, I know NOTHING about tires, and very little about rims. Want to run at least 28H in the front, 32H in the back, 700x23c. I'm not a fan of the deep dish wheels (look wise) but if they are all around better for street (which I read they aren't, but do provide added strength), let me know! Yes I know I need 64 spokes, forgot to change the 'x60' on the sheet, but the weight is right.
Bottom Bracket:Is that a good bottom bracket? I don't know much about them quality wise. I know how they work and I know what to look for size wise, but I feel this is a part I could spend a little more on for better quality.
Thanks for any help, I appreciate it! I also know I don't have a chain listed or a cog which I'm still deciding on.
