Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Buying a new fixed gear

Hello! I am looking to buy a new fixed gear and upgrade my current fixie. I have been to many local bike stores and none have the clean cut, bright colored, and light fixed gear bikes that i want. I have decided to turn to the internet, but don't know what websites are reliable. If anyone has heard of solid websites where i can order a fixie for around 500 dollars that would be much appreciated. I am leaning towards Pure Fix Cycles, but i do not know anyone with previous experience with this company. Any help would be much appreciated
-Thanks

I had a similar issue and after researching came to the conclusion that for a few more dollars Wabi would be a better deal. www.wabicycles.com

The only concern in the back of my mind is there are quite a lot of dirt roads around me and even going for a bigger tire size I might be better off with a MTB single speed. I have a conventional road bike and MTB.

Decisions, decisions.

Convert your mtb to a SS, no more concerns.
