i just got a semi used high flange dura ace track hub, used, but in good condition. anyone got any idea how much its worth, at least today?

Hard to say without seeing hub/feeling condition.

New Business Cycles has 'em for around 260 USD per set - http://www.businesscycles.com/trcomp.htm#hubs. I've seen 2nd hand fronts go for between 50-80 so a rear is probably closer to 70-120 USD but thats just a guesstimate.

Is that a Dura Ace hub? How old is that? I've never seen one like that.

yo, that's a pretty old dura-ace!
it's probably from late 70's. I've seen a few in Japan, but not many around. how's bearing feel?
also, check the threading, might be shimano 10 pitch.

That's quite a price delta. FYI, I got a set of DA High flange hubs laced to blue Open Pros for $220 last summer.

Wow, that's up with that? If you assume that they're charging between $50 & $60 for a rim (let's say $50) and $40 for labor, that's $80 for the hubs. That's really cheap.

They are going for about 45-50 NOS condition . I got a set for 145.00. Yes they are old!

He's got some CXP30's laced up for $279..............almost makes me want to get another frame.

A couple weeks ago the market price on DA high flange track hubs went up about $100/pair due to pricing changes from the primary importer. The supply is finally running down, as it did with Campy high flange track hubs as well. Hence the new prices. That price at RELoad is for a rear only and is about right. Just about everyone has just marked their pricing on a pair up to about $250-275 depending on demand, drilling, etc. It came as a surprise to a lot of folks. One major track equipment retailer told me he didn't know about a price increase and had plenty of inventory, then the next day bounced his price $100. Oh.

The pricing on Suzue is a lot more competitive, and Suzue hubs are also really good. I wonder if we could get Phil Wood to come up with some track hubs with the bearing seals minimized or removed? They'd be super hubs with no reservations if they didn't have so much friction in their seals. Frankly it probably doesn't amount to any significant difference under load, at least not for anyone short of Ray Bayley or Sarah Ulmer (and they won't ride those hubs in international competition anyway). Nonetheless, it's too bad that Shimano had to discontinue such a good hubset.

does anyone know if petitioning works with a big company like shimano? any precedents?? you'd figure that the majority of people buying DA track hubs would welcome the return of the high flange. i wonder what masterful piece of market research made them go low...

Shimano won't listen to you. Once they change something, that's it.
Besides, the small flange is lighter - and that's what drives their thinking (not mine).

it's probably not 10 pitch. i've never seen a double fixed 10 pitch hub, and i've owned a couple of sets of 'em.

Wouldn't the pitch be cog / ring / chain relative vs having anything to do with a hub? You got me wondering now.

in this case, it would. dura ace 10 pitch cogs and lockrings have a smaller thread diameter than normal 1/8 pitch parts. they won't fit on a standard track hub, and standard track cogs and lockrings will be too big for a 10 pitch hub.
