I'm off to London this weekend and in need of bits for my new build. Does anyone know of a good fixed/singlespeed specialist in the London (England) area? Cheers.

Condor cycles has the best stock on track/fixed gear related stuff in London. Brixton cycles is also good.
avoid Evans at full cost. their staff have no clue.

i went to condor a while back. while i think they have some nice fixed gear/ss specific parts, it's by no means, an earth-shattering selection. i heard a rumor from a friend of a friend... that there is shop in london carrying exclusively track and fixed gear bikes and parts. have you heard anything about that?

Agree with these people. Also Bikefix on Lambs Conduit Street have some fix/track stuff. They sell veto/fort frames and other stuff. The good thing is they are only a few minutes from Condor so you can go to both at the same time.

Well, they have most of the cool stuff in the workshop or behind the counter, so you kindda have to ask what they have. but anyway, it's nothing compared to what you can get in the States. and everything costs more here.
And I don't know or heard of that track specific shop you are talking about.
maybe you are talking about HUBJUB? but they are internet only shop. they have good stuff and great service, Will is very helpful and a nice guy.

Some of the guys at Mosquitobikes in Angel know about fixed, and the last time I was in they had this BEAUTIFUL Pegoretti track frame...

rode up to condor from new cross the other day to check it out. it ended up being closed (sunday, wasn't thinking) I turned around to head over to a used book shop in notting hill and the moment i pushed down my pos suzue jr. hub stripped out. Now I need a new hub had to walk the bike home. Since i'm too poor to buy a new wheel, I guess I'll just buy a ss freewheel (from condor) and not have a fixed till I get some money. And I agree, don't go to evans, the guy there tried to sell me a ss free wheel with a much larger pitch than standard, I have no clue what this thing was.

btw, would £70 be a good deal for a Miche hub set?

No, £70 for miche is a rip off. I know a place you can get them for £40 a set. PM me if you want to know, or you could get kogswell 120mm rear hub for £30 from hubjub.

wow prices are different in London than here in North America. 40quid is about $90Canadian and that is insane for Miche sets. Bike shops barely get get stuff for that cheap. 70quid is about $160Canadian which is the MSRP for Miche's. I would expect you can find them a little cheaper than 70, but if you get them for 40, by a couple sets...thats a steal!

If you're ordering from hubjub though...go for the Level. Its more expensive, but in my opinion the best new hubs on the market!

the exchange rate thing sucks - campagnolo parts may be slightly cheaper in the UK though.

I've got a spare wheel sitting around that you could have really cheap , but it's got a screw on freewheel hub and needs redishing. Could get you going as a suicide fix til you get the cash together to buy a new wheel.
