Fixies in Baltimore?
Anyone ride a fixie in Baltimore and have stuff to say about it? I'm going to be there for a ceramics conference in a couple weeks, and I was thinking about taking my bike to go the 1.4 miles from the hotel to the convention center since there aren't any light rail stops on the way. I think I'll be at the Quality Inn at the stadiums, and I'll be going to the convention center on W. Pratt St. Thanks.

I commute through downtown Baltimore most days and work at the warehouse next to Camden Yards (near both stadiums). The distance between the hotel and the conference center may be too short to make it worth it to bring your bike, unless you plan on doing other riding in the area. I would think walking it would be no big deal---up Russell Street to Pratt Street, then hang a right. Convention center is on Pratt a few blocks down. Sorry---I know that's heresy
If you do decide to bring your bike, you shouldn't have any trouble getting around. There's a few of us riding in the area.

I've walked that many times and think 1.4 miles is on the high side. It's probably less than a mile.
I would still bring your bike to ride but it's not worth the effort for me to ride and worry about taking it out of the hotel and locking it up at the other end each day.

Thanks for the suggestions... My other plan was to ride around to catch some of the pottery shows, but I may just opt for the shuttle buses they'll have running.
