I would say go with Time ATACs, and yes, I'm biased. I ride Time exclusivley, and I've never had a problem with any of their stuff. I haven't used them on a fixie (sorry), but I can tell you that they won't dump you if you don't turn your foot a fair ways, but they're still easy to get into and out of. They can also be had for less than the eggbeaters(look on ebay for some realy good deals). I'm sure eggbeaters are nice (a lot of the guys I ride/race mountain with use them), but I've also seen some problems with things wearing and them pulling out. Maybe they just don't maintain them right (I think I was hearing that there were some bushing or something that wear, maybe someone who knows more could comment on this). Well, that's my $0.02, take it for what it's worth.

reviving my dead thread....
i ordered the eggbeater sl and impact shoes (47) from nashbar....$140 less 20 percent with that coupon
i just installed them....too dark to ride now but as far as i can tell...its awesome.
the shoes fut well...or as well as possible (my right foor is a half size smaller than my left) and the pedals seem great....easy entry and exit
i cant wait to get on the road tommorow with them...even if it is 20 degress and i only have shorts.
just in case i stuck a break on my new drop handlebars so i have an emergency option while learning the ropes of clipless riding.
thanks for the advice fellas!

Mine are still in the mail. Tell your government to stop putting trade embargoes on Canada.

Bikes: 2 roadies, 7 fixed-gears, 1 hardtail, 1 full suspension mtb, and 1 hybrid...so far.
I do most of my fixie riding with plain ol' platform pedal with running shoes, although I have
occasionally used SPD's. I've managed 37 mph down hills and 35 mph sprints without clipping in.
