Id say 125-150 for that but I don't know the going rates of SF stuff.

Edit : just looked again and I'd say even less, frame is beat to hell.

Owner will laugh at and ignore you.
There is most certainly bay area hipster tax.

$250 - $350 is more like it to raise the sellers eyebrow.

But is it worth $250? It looks pretty beaten up.

If it's free of dents and major rust, yes. I've seen worse NJS framesets sell for more.

I would have to see it in person first. That way you can call things out to ding him down.

Just going from pictures and assuming there's nothing else wrong with it besides cosmetics I would do $275... and I feel that's really, really pushing being a bay area native. Possibly to even get the sellers attention you'd have to do at least $320.

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones

I'd have a hard time justifying that much money for that bike esp. given its poor condition. That said, LuckyBear lives in SF, I don't. But I still think that's too much for that frame and a few parts.

I wouldn't buy it. It looks beat to hell. Why spend good money on a worn out frame?

I don't think that's a bad deal at all if you really like the frame and it fits.

Sooo...now this frame costs $300 plus the cost of stripping and painting.

Nah, a bike beat up like that means you (or someone at least) has been riding it. Scars on your bike give you street cred.

Someone said it was NJS earlier so I just went off that since that's at least a reason to pay 300 bucks for a beat up frame.

Needs a lil tlc, but frame and fork (Columbus most likely), crank, Nitto stem and bar don't sounds too bad for 3 bills. A weekend stripping and painting is nothin' but a thang.

Personally I would never paint it. It takes years to achieve that "beater" look.
