Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.

Color matching

Okay, so I was looking for a set of tires in black/celeste. Green tires just don't match the decals or the paint on my Bianchi. It's starting to drive me a bit crazy, and this is only after two days of looking at her built back up for spring.

I found Conti Grand Prix 3000s in celeste and some other color (what kind of a name for a color is 'anthr' anyways? If they asked me to print something that color at work, I'd ask what they were smoking) at Harris, and I'm waiting to hear back if they're still made. Unfortunatly, looking at some of the reviews on this forum, it seems like these don't hold up all that well to street track use, which is what I need them for.

I called OneOnOne today, and they said that whatever celeste tires michelin used to make are no longer manufactured, and they don't even know anyone with overstock...

So, does this tire I'm looking for exist? I probably can't fit anything larger than a 700x23c. Preferably, it would only have celeste on the sidewalls, and a black center. Kevlar (as much as possible) would be great, but not completely neccessary. I don't skid much, so I'm thinking the wear I'll put on the tires would mainly be potholes/glass/pedestrians/etc....

The tape doesn't match either. I've found the right color in cork, but if anyone knows where to find some celeste leather tape, that would be pretty sweet, too.

They're going on this bike if that helps anyone.

Thanks

actually, several of the new michelins come in a light blue/black color which looks like it would match you bike a lot better then the some of the more green celeste tires.
Pro Race, Pro Light, and Pro grip, have the light blue/black.

i have a michellin pro race and a michellin hi-lite prestige both in that color... the prestige is a little more green, but just barely... the pro race perfectly matches the celeste bar tape a friend bought a while back, but i've yet to have my bike next to a bianchi to really see for sure...

i'm running vittoria pro-teams on mine and they match perfectly.

I believe vittoria rubinos also come in celeste as well. american cyclery here in sf has them, not sure if they'll ship them out to you - www.americancyclery.com

as for the bar tape, it's not leather but this looks promising: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=WDVW&tc=photo

e-mailed the dude and he said it's vinyl-ish. personally, i wrapped the bottom of my drops in cinelli cork and it works out well.

good luck with the hunt and let me know if you ever find any cool celeste stuff!

Is it grey? Anthracite seems to be a popular color for car wheels. It appears to be some sort of coal.

Sorry that this doesn't actually contribute anything to the thread...

I guess because I'm an idiot. Last time I looked at their site a few months ago, the store was closed.

I'd have to go with this one though - there's no way that I could fit a 35c cross tire... They don't give much info on it, so I guess I'll have to check the Vittoria site later. I have to be at work in an hour, and I just got no time

I kid, I kid! I do think the bike would look superhaute with the vittoria's and that bar tape though - black/celeste action - takeshi's looks sweet!

Pics will certainly be coming. Just wait until you see it when I build the tubulars it came with back up with new hubs for track use!

Bikes: IRO Angus; Casati Gold Line; Redline 925; '72 Schwinn Olympic Paramount

For bar tape, try out the Stella Azzurra Elegnza. It's foam that's meant to look like steering wheel wrap.

I just got a pair of Vittoria Freedoms ( Techno Twin Thread Kevlar). I bought them for size (25-622) and kevlar belt and they come in dirty white sides and a celeste thread with black center stripe.
