Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Drivetrain

Several months ago on my way to work in Chicago I came across a fixie that was running his drivetrain on the left side of his bike instead of the right. I'm curious as to the thought process behind such an install?

He's from a parallel universe where everything bad is good, everything good is bad, and evil Spock wears a goatee.

That or it's something along these lines: https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/86827-preposterous-idea-two-spider-arms-1-bike.html

The only issue i can see is the there will be more stress on the lock ring. Normally the lock ring only gets stress when you resist the pedals or skip/skid. But in this case it would be opposite. Stress on the lock ring when you pedal.

Bikes: Yes!

Such a drivetrain setup is ideal for those who skid more than they actually ride.
