some people like to spend a bunch of money on parts, have a shop put it together and call it custom. then they realize they can't ride fixed and try to sell it at the ridiculous cost they paid for it.

velofinds 10-16-15 10:33 AM

Looks a bit rough, but I'd still ride it. I wonder if the rust on the fork can be cleaned up.

Yup, but unfortunately the chrome is going to be pitted at those rust spots that ate through the chrome layer.

This thing is pretty sweet. If you are tall and you love the '90s, your frameset has arrived.

Am I missing something here? I don't see 3500 worth of parts on that bike.

I was thinking the same thing. My next door neighbor decorates his house in purple/gold lights at Christmastime.

I would've been seriously interested if it still had its original geared goodies with it

miyatalover 10-22-15 02:23 PM

$250 masi. Sounds like a good deal. Is it real? Could it be a rebaged kilo to? Anyone know how to tell?

It's real. Did a quick search and found the Masi catalog: http://www.masibikes.com/manual/2009-masi.pdf

TejanoTrackie 10-22-15 02:55 PM

Modern Masi is just cheap Chinajunk. Not even remotely like the original Masi.

seau grateau 10-22-15 03:02 PM

^^ Also true. In a way, a real Masi kind of is a rebadged Kilo.

Check out the headtube lugwork in the last photo. If only this bike were a little smaller. :(

Blanket statements are seldom 100% correct...like most makers Masi does bulk of its production in Asia nowadays, but their higher end bikes are far from "cheap Chinajunk" and I'm pretty sure some are even made in Italy

Actually...Masi in the US is owned by Haro ;) but Alberto Masi does still make hand-made steel frames in Milan, IT

the masi's I've dealt with have been nice bikes, sure not the hand built by one of europes premiere frame builders but i wouldn't relegate them to the quality of a $2-400 "internet fixie"
