Yep. It's like trying to compare a Cinelli Gazzetta to a SuperCorsa. The Supercorsa is probably 5% (or less) of their steel frame track bike frame sales. A majority of their bikes are made in China (Gazzetta, "Work model", etc...)

You know...just because a bike is not hand-made does not automatically make it "cheap Chinajunk" and I never mentioned the particular bike in question.

And not to nitpick...but it was Faliero who founded and grew Masi - Alberto is his son and for decades his workshop has been and in fact still is hand-building Italian Masis.

But we seem to be forgetting that during much of Masi's "good times" they were actually made in California, where some of the best American custom frame-builders got their starts, and where the family lost use of their name in the US...

Does that mean any Cinelli made in Asia is "cheap Chinajunk?"

That MASI for 250 is a decent price. Modern MASI has some good offerings. The Coltello was a great frame not sure if it is still available or not.

At the end of the day, you're still paying $800+shipping from japan for a frameset that has been mercilessly thrashed and bashed on by a professional racer.

How does this manifest itself? Is the integrity of the frame and/or the handling/ride quality compromised? Serious question.

Did you actually read the description? Near perfect condition. No structural damage, only paint chips. Considering it comes with BB and headset I think $907 w/shipping is a bit OP but nothing too insane.

How long as the pain job been chipped? Is it chipped down to bare metal? Has it seen wet weather riding (hint: velodromes can be outside too).

If you're going to spend 800 bucks on a frame get something new.

Chips are just on the top level of paint Obviously it doesn't mention riding conditions but I do know NJS BBs don't take too kindly to wet weather. If I had the money I might run it. Of course for a couple hundred more I could snag an entire bike. With an NJS frame
