I have a triple crankset, (truvativ elita) , and I am using it for a fixed gear bike. What to do with the mounting bosses for the third chainring ? Dremel them ? Might this invite cracks ?

i just stuck the chaunring bolts back in mine to make my bike a little heavier...

it was just too light ya know?

if you were to remove them, I'd use a hand file. aluminum is soft and it'll clog (and ruin) the grinding stones. you could use a cut-off wheel, but that would probably do a messy job.

Frome someone who has done it: hacksaw baby.

My mountain bike has them... Just go with it for a bit. Soon enough you'll have enough dirt and soot down there that you won't notice. ;)

Or maybe you want dr. dooom.

Poor Dr. Octagon.... I feel kinda sorry for his uncle Mr. Gerbik

dremal them off with a cut off wheel and then hit it with a file to clean it up. I have also run a rock guard or bash ring on the outside when using a double. Thought about cutting the teeth of a D/A 10spd ring so I can use that crank and keep something smooth on the outside. I can't wait for the matching Track Crank from Shimano. This lead to just working on how to modify a existing outboard BB Design. I'll let you know if we post anything about it on the Web Site. Scott just stopped me from cutting up my only D/A 10spd crank set.

BMX bolts then during the weight-off =oversize plastic drywall anchors. Ya..I thought about grinding too.

How about drilling through? Speed holes.

Second the hacksaw. Dremel with cutting wheel is too hard to keep straight for the thickness of the mounting standoffs.

I'll be running this crank on my new Steamroller, which is still in the planning phase....
Trying to have it ready for spring.
